Well, well, well! Last week, news of my sabbatical hit the airwaves. Although it was a million times less significant than having the world's toughest guy visit our country (sorry, Joe, not you), it still sparked quite a reaction. I received an abundance of positivity, and that's pretty cool. Thanks to all of you for the encouragement and well wishes. Now, as a lawyer, it's in my nature to clear up any doubts ("for the avoidance of any doubt"). So, let's dive into the FAQ and address those burning questions: 𝟏) 𝐀𝐦 𝐈 𝐬𝐢𝐜𝐤? Nope, at least not with any critical illnesses (as far as I know). Yes, I may have a bit of extra charm in the form of a few extra pounds. But let's not call it a disease; let's consider it my personal touch, wink, wink. My apologies if I caused any real concern in this respect 😱 𝟐) 𝐃𝐢𝐝 𝐦𝐲 𝐰𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐦𝐞? No (again, as far as I know). She'll be my sugar mama for the next six months. Super intriguing, right? 😎 𝟑) 𝐃𝐨 𝐈 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲? Well, that's always a desire. It's going to be awesome to have more opportunities for that. But sorry to burst any romantic bubbles, that's not the sole reason for my sabbatical. What I truly crave, more than anything, is time and freedom for myself. I know, I'm such an egoist! 𝟒) 𝐀𝐦 𝐈 𝐨𝐟𝐟 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐦𝐩 𝐢𝐧 𝐓𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐭? Not just yet. Tibet sounds alluring, but that level of silence may not be my cup of tea. Knowing myself, I might start hearing the silence screaming 😵. Let's save that plan for later years. 𝟓) 𝐀𝐦 𝐈 𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐳𝐲? I don't think so, but hey, there are plenty of things in the world I've misjudged. So, let's leave everyone free to come to their own conclusion on that matter. 𝟔) 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐚𝐥, 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐬𝐤? Simply put, it's rest and relaxation. Nothing fancy, sophisticated, or mysterious. I've had a wild ride for almost 20 years, and now it's time for potentially irresponsibly enjoyable six months. No pretending here: no BMI studies, no baby-making plans, and maybe not even any serious courses. I have some micro-level plans, but nothing too intriguing. As the popular cliché goes, "You only live once" 🧙 𝟕) 𝐈𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐍 𝐎𝐎 𝐑? Absolutely not. The sun shines brightly at N OO R. As I mentioned, it's not about months or years but about a much longer timeframe. Anyone who knows me understands my workaholism, my maximalism, my inability to step back and let go, my obsession with details, my micro-management tendencies, and so on. When you live by those mantras for a decade or more, all sorts of tics start popping up. They might manifest in the body or in the mind. I'll be cleaning these tics until end of the year. #sabbatical #teampower

All Public Service agencies in Aotearoa New Zealand are Māori facing. And if they're not, that's a problem. By my reckoning then, the names we presently call our organisations are safe. If they're not safe, ask why. It's a challenging time. Being Tangata Tiriti means being prepared to be active. To take a stand. To speak out against injustice. Hatred. Bigotry. Ignorance. Ethnocide. Language is central to cultures surviving and thriving. We cannot simultaneously claim to be supportive of diversity, equity and inclusion activities in Aotearoa AND let this happen. All of us who espouse to be Tangata Tiriti have a choice now. We have power. We need to get comfortable with any personal discomfort. We can speak up and out in support of Māori as First Nations people of Aotearoa New Zealand. We can continue to use reo first, foremost, always. #TangataTiriti #HonourTheTreaty #LanguageIsBelonging #Inclusion #Pākeha #Discomfort #ActiveAllyship

Can You Finish Last and Still Be a Winner? Cambodian runner Bou Samnang is an inspiration to us all. She recently finished last in the women's 5,000 meters at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games, but she didn't give up. She completed the race in torrential rain nearly six minutes after the winner, but she never stopped running. Samnang's determination and perseverance were rewarded. She was awarded $10,000 by Prime Minister Hun Sen, who said he was rewarding the runner "to encourage perseverance." Samnang's story is a reminder that it is important to never give up, even when faced with difficult challenges. No matter how difficult things may seem, it is important to keep moving forward. Here are some strategies to maintain your motivation and determination: ➡️ Set realistic goals. ➡️ Break down your goals into smaller steps. ➡️ Celebrate your successes along the way. ➡️ Don't be afraid to ask for help. ➡️ Surround yourself with positive people. Remember, failure is not the end of the world. It is an opportunity to learn and grow. If you never give up, you will eventually achieve your goals. #NeverGiveUp #NeverQuit #Perseverance #Motivation #Inspiration

Why did I make the switch to USANA? One significant reason is witnessing the extensive trust professional and Olympic athletes place in USANA. Having been an athlete myself, I'm accustomed to the typical supplements like vitamin C and vitamin D. However, for professional athletes, supplement sensitivity is crucial as selecting the wrong ones can jeopardize their careers. During the recent #usanapac2024 convention, I had the privilege of listening to firsthand experiences from Adli, a professional boxer known as the Goldenboyz from Malaysia. He recounted a time when he suffered an injury, and the prognosis indicated a two-year recovery period before resuming training. Being a professional athlete whose sport is their livelihood, waiting two years was not an option. Consequently, he turned to consistent consumption of USANA supplements. Thankfully, within three months, he was able to resume training. While USANA doesn't tailor its supplements specifically for athletes, a significant number of athletes place their trust in and consume USANA supplements. It's no surprise that over 3000 professional and Olympic athletes worldwide opt for USANA. Interested in learning more? Click here: usanaathletes.com
