When the developers only care about building Richie Rich mega or actual mansions, coupled with local elected officials who do not put one local thin dime into strategies to boost budgets into departments doing this work, you end up with a lame and embarrassing back log of what could have been. The issue is that all people deserve to have a place to live, for without a place to shelter, any other goals are imaginary. If a person cannot rest well, how can they get better, how can they plan, how can they put any steps in motion knowing they stand on solid ground? People need homes built under the concept of universal design, cradle to grave accessibility, tight insulation, following green principles to ensure the owner/renter will save thousands or more $$$ over the life of the home…an asset…from which others will flow needing you to build them a house, too. Until the developers get off their high horses and get real, this phenom will not end. People need homes like they need food and clothing. Many Local governments should be ashamed at how little emphasis they have placed on this grandest of issues-as they have built their shrines to Richies…Ribbon cutting shiny new conventions centers as they scoff at such notions that their priority has always been wrong. #truth
