So, I had an interview for the Senior Product Manager role at Verizon earlier this week, I was asked If I had any crazy ideas that I wanted to invent.
Without any hesitation, I replied.
The idea: Project Eye-Cursor
Objective: Ability to control laptop & TV wirelessly with the glasses that we wear.
How? the panel asked.
Kedar: The spectacle that we wear will be connected to the Laptop & TV wirelessly and our eye movement will act as a cursor.
Panel: Please enlighten us!!!
Kedar: It's basically a wireless mouse, but instead of a physical mouse, the cursor on the laptop works based on our eye movement.
Panel: But, on an average, we blink our eye a lot, does it count as a click on the cursor?
Kedar: Of course, not. Because, there will be a transmitter (kind of a button), which we can wear on any of our fingers, unless until the button is pressed, the device's (laptop) cursor won't move or perform any action.
Panel: Can you give us some examples where this can be used and how?
Kedar: Sure! Let's say, I'm wearing these glasses, and wore the button to my tip of the index finger, now, I'm connected wirelessly to my TV/Laptop.
Panel: Ok....
Kedar: Now, I want to search for something on the TV, so, I press the button on my index finger using the thumb, then I look for the search icon on the TV (cursor moves to the search icon), blink twice, the search bar opens, I'll look for YouTube (using eye movement, for every letter, only a blink will be enough), blink twice, it acts as the enter button and the TV shows the YouTube or results that you're looking for.
Panel: Okay....Wouldn't that be a replacement for the traditional remote & mouse that we use in our day-to-day.
Kedar: There's a chance, but this can be helpful for physically challenged, or someone in need.
Panel: If your device needs to be activated only by a button, how can a physically challenged will press the button if they're facing difficulty with hands.
Kedar: In that case, instead of a button, we can go like this. If the glasses are already worn, blink thrice, it'll be activated, then do the work that you'd like to do, blink thrice again, it'll be deactivated.
Panel: It was nice talking to you, our HR will get back to you soon.
Kedar: Alright, sure. Thanks for your time.
Me in mind: Let's see where the idea goes....But I need assistance & help in finding a job first.
