WHY we re-branded , We started off with PASSION Within the space of three (3) years(2016-2019) we got legally registered as an NGO. We started learning about how the NGO operates and within the space of another three (3) years(2020-2023), we learnt about the institutional structures of an NGO. We saw that PASSION alone is not enough to drive the vision towards achieving our desired results. Hence the need for CHANGE. TFT have evolved over time and we have learnt a lot through our years of commitment, consistency, engagements, trainings and from networks. We’re putting forward, not just our new name, logo etc but also more productive initiatives that will drive sustainable results. Our main aim is to build the TODAY for TOMORROW of Adolescents and Youths in different communities across Nigeria. You too can be part of us! You too can experience our work in your community! I know you must be thinking this is another willingness to pay (WTP) for spectacles study. Well, it's a yes and no. One can always conduct a WTP study, but more importantly, what the finding is used for. The MAD4VISION team, together with Dr Anne Ebri, CEO of Charis Vision, Health Mission, conducted the WTP study to understand how much parents were willing to pay for children's spectacles in order for us to develop a cross subsidisation strategy in Cross River State, Nigeria, to sustainably provide spectacles to poor children. We are always grateful to external funders and NGOs providing free spectacles to children. But time and time again, we have shown that's not sustainable in the longer term. Integrating it in the government primary eye care using economic principles might be the way to go. Here's what I believe: I believe NGOs deserve support that meets them exactly where they are. I believe NGOs deserve support that won’t break the bank. I believe NGOs deserve hands-on support when they need it. I believe NGOs deserve support that sets them up for success today AND for years to come. I believe NGOs deserve to be supported by someone who walked years in their shoes. I believe NGOs deserve to be supported by someone who has been successful where the NGO is now.

How to create safe spaces for NGOs beyond funding, in a trusting manner. Learnt a few things about the complex funder-grantee relationship in this article: the high likelihood of manifesting inequity along each step of the granting process, the need to make the funding relationship more inclusive and also supporting the institution building needs of NGOs beyond the focus on programme focussed funding.
