🌟Connecting, communicating and building towards a European Women's MTB network🌟 Held in the picturesque Vienna Woods, this year's IMBA Europe Summit saw an incredible turnout of women in mountain biking—a significant milestone for our organization dedicated to promoting more people on bikes through sustainable mountain biking. This year's program included a dedicated breakout session on the FIAS (Fostering Inclusive Action Sports) framework, as well as a working group session that focused on the development of a European women’s mountain biking network. The FIAS workshop provided crucial insights into fostering gender inclusivity in mountain biking. Led by Dr. Fiona Spotswood, the session highlighted four key areas: building communities of women+ in MTB, integrating women+ into MTB culture, supporting women+ in leadership roles, and transforming MTB's cultural representation. Attendees engaged in dynamic discussions on how to enhance inclusivity individually and collectively, committing to actionable steps across these areas to drive meaningful change. Simultaneously, the women in mountain biking workshop underscored persistent challenges such as unequal pay, limited representation, and stereotypes. Participants articulated a vision for a more diverse and welcoming MTB environment, emphasizing the need for increased visibility, equitable opportunities, and community-building initiatives to empower women within the sport. These workshops collectively set the stage for ongoing efforts to advance gender equity and inclusivity in mountain biking communities across Europe and beyond. We invite women who couldn't attend to reach out to IMBA Europe to learn more about the European MTB Network. IMBA Europe is tackling diversity in the cycling/mtb sector by walking the walk - or it is riding the ride? The #IMBASummit2024 will have 40% female speakers and panelists. Additionally, they have set an ambitious target of 30% female participation in the event (from 18% in previous years). Fantastic initiative by the team - Cathy Naveaux Thomas Larsen Schmidt Manon Carpenter Mark Torsius During the summit, we seek to have diverse voices and thoughts at every table throughout the program. Additionally, there will be a women`s only meeting in which to speak about challenges specific to the MTB sector and together, identify which issues we should focus on in the future. Why women only? To create a safe space in which to share and be heard. If you are a woman in this broad sector of MTB industry (guides, instructors, academic, commercial, manufacturing, policy), I invite you to come and have your ideas heard as we seek to build a better trail together. 🚵♀️ https://lnkd.in/euQc4Ea5

A first look at how the Tour de France Femmes performed in its second year. As anticipated, we’re seeing seeing a slight decrease in search but the other social media metrics are up! But more interestingly the teams that have specific channels that only cover the women’s team performed on average better than the accounts that feature both the men’s and women’s teams. This was highlighted by Rozie Slack who talks about “women’s cycling needs its own channels to succeed” - with dedicated channels it gives them distinctive identities but also paves the way for expansion on both fronts – building audiences and generating commercial returns. 🗳 In the lead-up to the European Parliament elections, CIE is delighted to see our colleagues and members at Decathlon encouraging politicians to continue working for a circular, competitive and active EU through several key policy recommendations, including those outlined in the European Declaration on Cycling. 🚲 CIE also advocates for more concrete and binding measures to develop a sustainable, digitalized and circular European cycling manufacturing sector in line with the EU Green Deal goals. These objectives have been the primary focus of CIE’s Corporate Social Responsibility and Sustainability expert group, which allows the cycling industry to understand and improve areas such as environmental footprint, responsible sourcing and end-of-life treatment, thereby contributing to the circular economy! 🚲 Reflecting on a fantastic Global Capacity Building Day On Active Mobility! 🌟 A heartfelt thank you to all the participants who made yesterday's event on cycling and walking so engaging. It was inspiring to witness various organizations from over the world coming together, exchanging ideas, and gathering valuable insights. The connections made during the day emphasized the power of collaboration. Together, we are stronger, and we're committed to carrying forward the momentum generated. As a country known for cycling, let's aspire for a future where other nations follow suit. However, we recognize that achieving this vision requires a collective effort. That's why we're on a mission to train 10,000 local active mobility experts within the next 10 years. Our goal is to empower people to take charge —providing them with the tools, not just the solutions. The day was a resounding success, thanks to the enthusiasm and dedication of everyone involved.
