Effectiveness of Underwater Venting 💨: Unveiling innovative solutions, the team is exploring the efficiency and viability of underwater venting systems for methanol. This approach not only ensures safety but also offers flexibility in ship design, particularly addressing challenges related to toxic vapours. 2. Corrosion of Aluminium Exposed to Methanol 🛳️: With an emphasis on diverse ship materials, the team is meticulously studying the corrosion dynamics of aluminium exposed to methanol. This research is vital for ships, especially those constructed with aluminium, ensuring the long-term integrity and safety of fuel tanks in a methanol environment. 3. Leak Scenarios Due to Collision/Allision (Crashworthiness) 💥: In a commitment to fortify maritime structures, the project is exploring leak scenarios resulting from collisions or allisions. Understanding the crashworthiness of fuel containment systems is imperative, and the team is dedicated to developing robust strategies that enhance safety during unexpected events. Within the MENENS Work Package 3 project, MARIN (Maritime Research Institute Netherlands) and partners have been exploring the MBSE approach and its added value. 🛠️ MBSE uses models to represent complex systems, facilitating design, analysis, and verification. Upcoming Thursday, Teja Donepudi from TU Delft | Mechanical Engineering will present the results of the H2Flex project (funded by Topsector Energie, TKI nieuw gas) at ASME International Gas Turbine Institute Turbo Expo 2024. Here different methods for simulation of the mixing process of air and hydrogen in the Destinus OP16 DLE combustor will be discussed. Mixing is crucial for flashback prevention and low NOx, this study enables us to push the limits further.

I had the pleasure to present the latest developments of FICEP in the containment of emissions at the 13th Pacific Structural Steel Conference in Chengdu. In steel fabrication, the performances and productivity of the machines are a must that customers of FICEP machine and systems give for granted. But the growing concerns regarding the environment and the reduction of the CO2 emissions is a major issue, particularly in the steel industry that is one of the most polluting industries. #FICEP is always at the forefront of innovation in the #steelfabrication industry and we are now implementing a series of developments through our #intelligentsteelfabrication and #BIM integration to minimize the #carbonemissions and maintain a documented traceability in order to comply with the most stringent requirements in international tenders
