Algae - It’s Not Just How They Appears Due to common beliefs such as algal blooms turning a water source toxic or green water aquariums lack care from their owners. Algae are normally viewed by the layperson as a harmful or nuisance organism. Yet in the field of biotechnology, algae research is pursued with great interest. When observed with the naked eye, they all seem to be some kind of floating green mass. However, decades of algae research have revealed that these lifeforms are remarkably diverse. Across all algae species, their biological structures are vastly distinctive from each other, with different species having separate gene pools and even cell types. 📣Dear LinkedIn Community, During this year's #MicrobiomeCongress held in Murcia, Fran Romero Campero, a distinguished academic and researcher at the #IBVF (the Institute of Plant Biochemistry and Photosynthesis, a JV between the Universidad de Sevilla and the Spanish National Research Council), unveiled a groundbreaking research that highlights the transformative potential of #microalgae-based biosolutions in modern agriculture. 🌱What truly sets this research apart is the demonstration of the extraordinary biostimulating prowess of #microalgae, particularly when applied to crops facing stress conditions. Specially, the study sheds light on the intricate physiological mechanisms behind this phenomenon, unveiling previously uncharted territory. 🧬Due to the application of AlgaEnergy’s #biostimulants and thanks to the employment of AI techniques related to data analytics, the scientific team discovered that this substance activates key gene clusters in crops that are associated with responses to water deprivation and heat stress. I wish you all a happy New Year. There are also cases when the lighting system is used inefficiently and it is only necessary to reduce the distance to the light receiving surface of the photobioreactor. The higher the light scattering angle of the LEDs, the more likely it is to simply and easily improve the illumination in your photobioreactor.
