Summary from the Department of Biotechnology: 1.Ethanol Production and Spent Wash Remediation: •Ethanol production from distilleries generates large amounts of Spent Wash, a hazardous wastewater containing melanoidin that inhibits plant photosynthesis. •Indian distilleries produce substantial amounts of Spent Wash, which can be cost-effectively treated using a biochar filter. •Algae biomass processed through hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) yields biocrude oil and biochar. •Biochar can clean Spent Wash, and post-filtration, can be composted to create biofertilizers, improving soil fertility and crop productivity. •This research was led by Dr. Shashi Kumar and a team of researchers at ICGEB (International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology). #biotechnology #dbt #biochar #sustainable #greentechnology

Exciting news! I'm thrilled to announce the publication of my first research paper titlled "Bioremoval of Lead from Polluted Waters Using the Fungus Talaromyces stipitatus and Its Impact on Male Albino Rats". The bioremoval of heavy metals from the environment is widely recognized as an economical, successful andenvironmentally safe solution. Fungal dead biomass might be a low-cost way to remove harmful heavy metals from contaminated solutions .Our findings revealed that, under ideal circumstances, the dead biomass of the lead-resistant fungus Talaromyces stipitatus could biosorb lead ions with an efficiency of up to 96%.
