Employee Spotlight | Meet Marco Caporale, Project Manager. Marco has worked with Bosa Construction since 2015. He started out doing rough carpentry and general labour and about a year and a half later, moved on to the management side as a Project Coordinator. He is now a Project Manager on our Myriad project by Concert Properties, and has worked on many projects including The Creek and Brentwood Tower 3. Get to know Marco more with his Q&A below! Q: Thinking back to when you first started, what stood out? Company culture. It was very clear from day one that it was very easy to talk to anyone in the organization. Everyone is very open to helping each other when it comes to getting our jobs done. But also having a good time outside of the work environment. Q: What’s a ‘day in the life’ of your role? Managing my direct team and subcontractors to ensure tasks are completed when required. Always ensuring we are meeting and exceeding our clients’ expectations. Q: As a Project Manager, you deal with a lot on a day-to-day basis. What's a highlight? I love knowing that there is always going to be a challenge we are going to face daily. Tackling any obstacles that come our way with my team and overcoming those challenges is very rewarding when you see everyone work together towards a goal. Q: What’s a skill you would love to have? I would love to speak a second language. Specifically Italian or Croatian, which is my background. Q: Work can be a grind. What motivates you? I think about the very end of the project when all is said and done, not only wanting to make our client happy but seeing the product we hand over and the hard work our teams put into the project… It gives me that sense of pride and accomplishment. Q: We've welcomed lots of new people in recent years. A piece of advice for someone new? Be a sponge and soak in all the knowledge and expertise of the people around you who have been in the industry for many years. You are not going to learn everything in one day, and that’s ok. Spend time with other employees and build relationships with the people around you. Lastly, don’t be afraid to ask questions. Thanks Marco for sharing! Igual Project Managers provided me with a fantastic experience in June and July 2023 as a student construction manager. I want to share that experience with you today. One of Igual's projects is V&A Waterfront Hangar and Heliport , where I was assigned and was supervised by Ilza Seekley(in the picture ), one of Igual’s construction managers. I had the opportunity to participate in and observe the arduous labour and sweat required for a successful construction project. The experience emphasises the value of collaboration, communication, precise project specifications, health and safety, high standards of quality, and adaptability. I learned a great deal from the experience, including the knowledge and skills needed to be a construction manager. George M. Gilbert asserts that .“To achieve any group goal, individuals must work to improve themselves as a means to improve the group.” The success of a building project depends on "we," not "I," which means that we must provide high-quality work as a team. The goal of this experience was for me to become better so that I could contribute excellence to the construction team and industry. #OnSitePracticalExperience #LearningAndGrowing
