𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: 𝗜𝗻-𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀
To the general public, a ‘space’ is synonymous with emptiness. However, #architects understand space to be a distinct creation—a container for activities, shaped and influenced by design.
Still, the interstitial areas between different anchoring functions, amidst disparate parcels of development in cities, or within landscapes, are often ‘othered’ and treated as an afterthought. How can architectural solutions be applied to such spaces for the public’s benefit?
The 𝟮𝗻𝗱 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 issue of FuturArc will examine in-between areas, transitional zones, informal spaces and spatial designs that renegotiate existing boundaries.
If you have architectural works across all scales that make use of hallways, mezzanines, staircases, leftover spaces, etc., and/or extends an existing building towards a new function, send us a brief profile and photos to singapore@futurarc.com by end of April 2024.
