Snowflake adds native BI to more vertically integrate it's data stack. Expect an announcement from Databricks to keep up. We can expect the ultra fragmented modern data stack to consolidate in the coming years.

🚨 🚨 🚨 Major announcement from Snowflake about how their partnership with Sigma Computing is expanding and deepening Major Takeaways: 1️⃣ Snowflake Ventures has made another strong investment in Sigma 2️⃣ Sigma will be available as a Snowflake Native App, and you can draw down credits on your existing contract, so getting started is fast & easy. 3️⃣ Even more announcements are expected next week at Snowflake Summit - tune in if you are not attending live.

I am watching the Opening Keynote at Snowflake Snowday. I realize that Snowflake starts to offer its own AI stack, by offering Cortex that can be used to build LLM based applications, using its own RAG support (vector database, embeddings), its own Co-Pilot. They have their own summarization, translation , a LLama based LLM that can be trained and fine tuned within the Snowflake Data Cloud. They partner with Meta on this. They also have their own Universal Search that combines all the available searches based on a Natural language Interface. Snowflake brings the AI processing into Snowflake, so that the data is not moved anywhere for AI, and stays under Snowflake's Trust Later that insures the compliance, security and governance. (They announced Snowflake Horizon for this.) And they offer Python combined with SQL as query language. I think this is very cool ! Snowflake also announced a 100 Million VC fund for early startups that are building native apps in Snowflake. Snowflake joins in this way the big players in the AI space. In my opinion the maturity of this company is that they combine the classical SQL data world with the new data world (vectors, embeddings) under their Data Cloud. They do what Oracle didn't do....the founders left Oracle and brough the SQL world in the 21th Century Data Cloud that embeded AI. UiPath is integrated with Snowflake ( https://lnkd.in/g_JHJ4ZC ) so that all this functionality will be available in the AI Povered Automation Platform that we offer.

I have used both of them and the integration is extremely seamless. With AI enabled in these systems would result a remarkable journey. Sigma Computing is very powerful BI product for self service reporting which enables Business analysts and Data managers to generate insights very quickly. Snowflake ❄️ is also a remarkable designed data warehouse product which enables Data engineers and Data Scientists to utilise it so easily. The Snowflake - Data Cloud World Tour is over? Say it ain’t snow! ❄️ While reflecting on our time in Santa Clara and Toronto, we had a few takeaways👇 ☁️ Takeaway #1: Trend alert! Data cloud native apps. Data Cloud Native Apps are the next wave — and for good reason. They represent a new frontier in leveraging ML, GenAI and rise of LLMs. Snowflake is releasing the frameworks for companies, and developers like Maxa, to build the next gen of #EnterpriseGrade products, providing the tools to build apps fast, flexible, and secure. 🛡️Takeaway #2: Concerns about #DATA are breaking down the silos — everywhere. Whether at the our booth, via presentations, or our many one-on-one chats, it was clear that all departments are becoming increasingly concerned with data privacy, security, trust, and accuracy — and not just the CIO office. Whether Marketing, R&D, Sales, Operations or Finance, many digital executives are starting to talk the same language. 💪 Takeaway #3: You’re done with the status quo. “I’m not afraid to try something new,” “I’m afraid of things that I know are NOT working. We have to find another way!,” “We need to rethink how we are providing data to the Exec-suite” Our many conversations revealed that businesses are looking for ways to better leverage internal data for insights across the organization for better decision making. ❤️ Bonus? Going beyond copilots, and traditional chat bots. Genesis Computing is bringing true agentic workflows with Genesis Bots, bringing fully autonomous virtual workers to enterprises running on the Snowflake AI Data Cloud. The extent of capabilities go only as far as the extent of what the model is capable of. As the next generation of models get better, so do our virtual knowledge workers. What used to be the art of the possible, is possible today on Snowflake.

Last week, I planned to dive into the Snowflake BUILD Developer Conference online, but life had other ideas. With a sick little one at home, my schedule shifted. I ended up catching up on the conference sessions during the evenings and the weekend. You can check them out here: https://lnkd.in/eaBbmNbW   The conference was buzzing with AI innovations, and it's amazing to see how fast technology is moving. Key highlights for me:   New 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐬: These are potential game-changers, simplifying container management.   𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐞/𝐇𝐲𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐝 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬: A big step forward, letting Snowflake handle both analytical and transactional data.   𝐃𝐲𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐬 for Data Pipelines: This might not be as flashy as AI, but it’s super useful. It makes real-time data pipelines faster and more efficient.   Another session that impressed me was "𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐎𝐩𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐒𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐞." Code versioning and deployment have often been sidelined, but Snowflake’s new approach brings these to the forefront. In the past, code deployment in Snowflake required a manual, step-by-step process with a lot of ALTER statements. This has been transformed with Snowflake’s latest DevOps solutions. The introduction of the "CREATE OR ALTER" command, coupled with GitHub Actions, streamlines the process, allowing for seamless and efficient code deployment.   Overall, the 𝐒𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐁𝐔𝐈𝐋𝐃 conference showed some exciting directions in data management and tech development. #snowflakedatacloud #snowflakedb #snowflakebuild

The snowflake data cloud world tour London edition was great. Well organised and a good mix of business focus and technical updates. Key takeaways: 1/Streamlit looks like a great solution to data driven internally focused applications. With more flexibility than out of the box BI tools. Easy to use and deploy, embedded in snowflake and already a significant marketplace to re-use. 2/The Frosty Gen AI Demo was impressive. It looks like a contender for 'code interpreter' on snowflake. 3/Everyone is talking about Gen AI and doing work to move it forward. But even State Streets market leading offering is in 'review' stage with clients. Experiment, gather feedback and focus on valuable use cases. Hardly anyone is in production yet! 4/You cant have an AI strategy without a data strategy without a business strategy. They need to be aligned and flexible.
