Chief Operating & Revenue Officer | Scaling High-Growth Tech Startups | Building World-Class Operations throught Analytics and Business Strategy
🚀 💥 ✨ "Failure is not an option" we say at NASA... lesson that still need to be learned sometimes in start-ups... I've learned the hard way that in SaaS, also, success can be fleeting... and boy, did I learn some hard lessons along the way. Even after achieving a certain level of success as a Development and Service Company you can still find yourself starting from scratch… ...after hiring and building your dream team, you might have to lay off and start cold-calling again... ...after building processes with 100 of automation, you might have to delete everything to start from scratch with a new sales model... ...after 1000+ of hours working your pitch on specific services, you might have to throw everything away to sell something completely new to make it through... 😌 It takes a certain level of humility to admit that failure is always a possibility, and probably even alway a path to take to have a higher chance to live. 💪 You have to be willing to put in the hard work to rebuild what you believe is the best version of your company 🌟 But here's the thing: 1- when you're the CRO, sometimes you gotta roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty 2- that process of reinvention is actually a beautiful thing 3- it gives you a fresh perspective, an opportunity to learn and grow 4- you might have to do tasks that feel junior, but that's just part of the grind So don't be afraid to start from scratch, embrace it, and use it as a chance to rise to new heights. That probably what Space X team must think also following the last Starship launch. "Failure is not an option" used to say Gene Kranz (ex-NASA flight controller who worked in Mission Control from Project Mercury through the end of the Apollo program)

Two days of #Supernova for me: Day one, being bummed out about missing day one while at the same time enjoying every minute of the extra quality time spent with my sick baby boy. Day two, being a little starstruck by finally meeting some people from Ideo who share my passion for prototyping instead of creating "jazzhands" slide decks and asking the right questions instead of always trying to have the right answers, so here we go: * "How might we support the mess of prototyping, learning and failing on the way to success at Port of Antwerp-Bruges?" (one of the answers: space monkeys and sea turtles) credits to Clark Scheffy ~ Ideo * "How might we create a runway for big ideas at Port of Antwerp-Bruges?" (one of the answers: find a middle (wo)man to translate between operators and ideators) credits to Tom Domen ~ Made And last but definitely not least, because you should always follow the advice of someone that has literally been on the moon, Charlie Duke ~ Apollo Astronaut: * "How might I inspire my son to go beyond the letters A-Z?" #tothemoonandback #fullcircle

❓Did you know #WorldEmojiDay is celebrated on July 17th each year? This date was chosen because it is the date shown on the calendar emoji 📅. World Emoji Day😀aims to promote the use and enjoyment of emojis worldwide, fostering conversations and creativity.😎 🙃 Expressing ourselves can sometimes be challenging, especially in the digital world where non-verbal cues are absent. 😵 Emojis are a gateway, bridging the gap between real and virtual emotions in our digital interactions. 🤕 📲 😁 ➡ Here are some lesser-known facts about emojis: 1️⃣ Emoji Origins: Emojis originated in Japan in the late 1990s. Shigetaka Kurita, a Japanese engineer, created the first set of 176 emojis for a mobile internet platform. The term "emoji" combines the Japanese words for "picture" (e) and "character" (moji), reflecting their visual nature. 2️⃣ Unicode Consortium: The Unicode Consortium is responsible for standardizing and approving emojis. This non-profit organization ensures that emojis are consistent across platforms and devices, allowing users to send and receive emojis regardless of their operating systems. 4️⃣ Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year: In 2015, the Oxford Dictionaries named the "Face with Tears of Joy" emoji 😂 as the Word of the Year. This recognition marked the first time a pictograph or emoji received the prestigious title, highlighting their cultural impact and popularity. 5️⃣ Emojis in Space: In 2020, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) used the "Rocket" emoji 🚀 to represent the SpaceX Crew Dragon spacecraft in a tweet. This marked the first time an emoji was officially used to represent a spacecraft, showcasing emojis' widespread recognition and acceptance. 👨💻 Emojis allow you to infuse your unique personality and style into your messages. They are your expressive allies in the digital realm, helping you communicate emotions, convey intent, and make your messages more engaging. Let emojis unleash your creativity and enable you to express yourself with ease! 💃 #emojis #digitalisation #foodforthoughts

Day 2 of the SXSW Pitch event - category Innovative World Technologies (with a space 🚀 touch!) - here's some of the great startups pitching: Cephable: "not just a technology company, but a movement", a movement towards more inclusive, efficient, and empowering digital future for people with disabilities. Cephable is moving digital interaction beyond the mouse and keyboard (you can download their software right now and start using it for free on Mac and Windows!) Coordle - Here's to the future of group travel management, with great energy Jen Fry, PhD (she/her) presented their solution (see picture) combining the functions of the many tools that group travel requires into one platform. Monte Caldera Technologies Inc.: developing artificial intelligence “discovering” materials without a physical component first. It can more and more accurately model and predict material properties in-silico, saving money on then testing with actual physics. Skyline Nav AI Inc.: 4 billion people live or work in urban canyons with poor GPS connectivity. With this solution you can geolocate without GPS, cellular or wifi within 10 seconds. Skyline finds terrain features and skylines matching them with real locations. "It is like having the knowledge of a local taxi driver!" I am impressed with the 5 meter accuracy Skyline's Kanwar Singh is claiming. Space-related side note: this could potentially help NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration land and navigate on the Moon in the future as well - without a satellite constellation providing location information! #SXSW2024 #SXSWPitch
