I spent several hours this weekend exploring ChatGPT's new custom GPTs feature, discovering its capabilities, and refining my first custom GPT tool. Updated PRO TIP: Try uploading a Word document with all of your top performing LinkedIn posts copied and pasted onto it (title each one with EXAMPLE 1, EXAMPLE 2, etc), to have it analyze the entire document of your top performing posts to create your LinkedIn style/voice/tone AI prompt snippet based off of. You'll have to copy and paste the post copy from LinkedIn into your document, but it's definitely worth it! The document I used had 15 posts in it and it did AWESOME. (My posts are usually pretty long, so if yours are a lot shorter you could do even more).

I hate analyzing my writing style. Hate. So, I took Nicole Leffer's Voice Prompt GPT for a spin. Here's how it works. 1️⃣ You provide a writing sample. 2️⃣ The GPT analyzes your style. 3️⃣ The GPT gives you a writing style snippet for your prompts. The outputs were much better than what I usually use. An Old Version: [Style] Use clear, direct language. Use active voice, unless when you are writing about a general concept or historical transformation. Make the language and examples as concrete as example, so that general information is immediately followed up by a discussion of some specific instance related to that information. The GPT's Version: [Style] Write with the following style, voice, and tone: The writing displays a formal, academic tone with a focus on detailed analysis and theoretical discussion. Sentences are long, complex, and often include multiple clauses. The style is characterized by a high level of specificity and precision in language, with frequent use of technical terms and references to scholarly works. The voice is authoritative and knowledgeable, reflecting a deep understanding of the subject matter. There is a consistent use of the passive voice and nominalization, which contributes to the formal and somewhat detached tone of the writing. The language is rich in adjectives and adverbs, enhancing descriptive clarity. The text often employs rhetorical questions to engage the reader and encourage deeper contemplation. Use a structured approach to organize content, beginning with broad concepts and gradually narrowing down to specific examples and detailed analysis.

Pro tip: When working with AI like ChatGPT & Claude, give them plenty of context upfront. We provide a 2-3 page brief to frame the project. It makes a huge difference in quality! Try it out and let the AI's shine. Here are some key elements to include in a brief when providing context for an AI: Background on the project/assignment - What is the overall goal or purpose? High-level overview of what you're trying to accomplish. Target audience - Who is this content aimed at? What do they care about? What tone and language would appeal to them? Personality/voice - Do you want a formal, academic tone or something more casual and conversational? Any particular style guidelines? Subject matter specifics - Define key terms, provide relevant facts/data, summarize research findings. Give the AI the knowledge base it needs. Outline structure - Bullet point the main sections or flow you want the content to follow. Length requirements - How long should the final output be? Examples - Provide samples of similar high-quality content that exemplify what you're looking for. Do's and don'ts - Call out anything to avoid or that you specifically want included. The goal is to immerse the AI in the subject matter and strategic context so it can produce optimized results! Using GPT for 'research' is a half-truth. ChatGpt, Bard or BingChat are good for;  ⤷ Getting some surface-level info instantly ⤷ Brainstorming random ideas  ⤷ Creating rough outlines  But deep research & accurate facts? That’s where AI fumbles and produces crap.   That’s where you need to do stuff manually.  ↯ Want to cite accurately? Search for the exact source.   Want to write the exact quote? Get that manually.   Want to include official info? Go to the official site. I know that AI saves a lot of time and energy.  But you can’t fully automate the research process.  “Well-researched” writing needs manual research. Now, whenever someone says “But I use AI for research.”  Know that they are talking about “surface-level research.” And their research includes 80% generic stuff. PS. Ever used ChatGPT plus? Here’s 3 ways I get reliable info out of generative AI to inform marketing, PR and medcomms materials:     🔍 1. Research with Perplexity.ai   This AI answers questions like ChatGPT, but references its responses with clickable sources so they can be checked.       ❓ 2. Answer questions from multiple sources using ChatGPT 4   Use this prompt:   Use the provided articles delimited by triple quotes to answer questions. Your task is to answer the question using only the provided documents. If the document does not contain the information needed to answer this question then simply write: 'Insufficient information.' If an answer to the question is provided, it must be annotated with a citation.
