TriMet is implementing our extreme weather fare policy due to excessive heat and Multnomah County’s state of emergency. This means that TriMet won't turn away anyone riding to or from a cooling center who cannot pay fare between 10 a.m.-10 p.m. daily, today through Monday, July 8. We ask riders to please tell their bus operator that you’re heading to or from a cooling center. Plan your trip at trimet.org. Prepare for riding during extreme heat at trimet.org/heat.

In the latest edition of TriMet on the Move, our monthly newsletter, we remember when a 14-year-old wrote the book on our transit agency! Back in the mid-1970s, David Bragdon rode every single one of our (at the time) 65 bus lines in the course of creating “A Bus Rider’s Manual, or Everything You Need to Know About Tri-Met But Didn’t Know Who to Ask.” The young author went on to serve on the Metro Council, as a planning director for New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, and most recently as — no surprise here — a transportation strategist.
