Each of the common extraction methods has its diehard fans. But each one also has its downsides. Ethanol is fast but comes with high solvent and energy costs. Monosolvent CO2 is super selective but often requires high up-front equipment costs and extra downstream processing. Hydrocarbons can make desirable products but have scaling limits and additional safety requirements. Solventless extraction is simple but serves a smaller, higher-end market. None of these methods, on their own, will give you a lasting advantage. But if you could move around the triangle of speed, scale, and selectivity with one piece of equipment, you may just get the edge you're looking for. #cannabisindustry #cannabisbusiness #cannabisextraction

A recent application note from Agilent describes the analysis of 27 halogenated hydrocarbons and 11 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in drinking water using an 8697 headspace sampler coupled to an 8860 GC with a Capillary Flow Technology splitter. The targeted compounds were extracted in the headspace sampler and transferred to the GC for simultaneous separation and detection on two different columns using a Capillary Flow Technology splitter.
