Monday Musings: What if LinkedIn made Premium free when you needed it the most? Make it free until you land your next job (using LinkedIn), with the caveat that you agree to pay for the service - at a minimum - one month for each month you recieved the free benefit. I'd sign up for that in a hot second. Would it make me more loyal to LinkedIn. 100%. Would I probably pay for longer than I recieved the benefit? You bet your LTV I would. Would I be more likely to leverage LinkedIn for posting jobs and recruiting? 1000%. Losing your job is a traumatic event. Why force people when they're down on their luck have to choose between LinkedIn Premium and gas, groceries, or rent? THIS is what LinkedIn should be about. Take care of the community and the community will take care of you. What do you think?
That is an interesting idea. What features of premium, for a job searchers, do you feel are the most valuable?
I cancelled my premium when my last position fell out from under me. Back on now because LI reached out with a free month. C'mon, LI, if you're in for a month why not go all the way for the struggling masses? The sentiment is real - I am a user now, but would be a raving fanatic of any platform that backed me when riding the struggle bus.
Great idea, Trevor! LinkedIn Ryan Roslansky come on, that's the way to go! 🚀🚀
I feel like LinkedIn does a good job at this promoting premium for free for 30-90 days and directly displayed to you. But also, if you have a LI team member in your network, I'm sure they'd be happy to help with just a simple message.
So true! And if LinkedIn can't figure a way to execute, it would be a phenomenal outplacement benefit for companies to provide.
Couldn't agree more, Trevor Lambert. Would be a major game changer for LinkedIn, its community of users and user sentiment.
Who else has a CS/CX/Product contact at LinkedIn to tag in the comments? 😊
Thought-provoking and innovative. It takes the sting out of paying for services and makes it competitive to other job search options.
