In honor of Generations at Work Month, we’re celebrating the range of skills, perspectives and experiences that each generation brings to the workplace. Throughout July, #TRVEmployees will join panel discussions, networking events and local community volunteer activities sponsored by our Young Professionals & Allies Diversity Network. These events, inspired by our theme “Connecting with Purpose,” are just one of the many opportunities our employees will have to come together, learn from each other and celebrate all generations that work side by side. 💡 Learn more about our Diversity Networks: https://travl.rs/3RRBfad

🎉 Celebrating National Day for Staff Networks! 🎉 At Principality Building Society, our staff networks are more than just groups of people – they're vibrant communities that make our workplace a better, more inclusive environment. I often read in guides and books that this is the remit of a staff network - but personally, I disagree. Here at Principality, our networks are supported by the leaders of our organization, which means that they have an impact beyond scale and input into delivering our strategy. We are empowered to lead on initiatives and feed into a number of things across our organization. Some examples of this would be the delivery of our carbon awareness training to the whole organization, written and delivered by our very own Planet-Friendly Network. The diversity of thought that goes into policies and procedures makes Principality a leader in areas like our family-friendly policy, flexible working, and Carers leave. Our sponsorship of Pride Cymru, which we are immensely proud of, is driven by our inclusion manager, brand team, and Pride Network. And our annual Network Open Day is an opportunity for the whole company to learn more, have some time away from the desk, and come meet some pretty awesome people! As someone who helps shape our network strategy, I'm continually inspired by the dedication of my colleagues. They not only excel in their day-to-day roles but also commit themselves to the success of their networks, embodying the true spirit of collaboration and community. I couldn't be prouder of the work we do, and I encourage everyone to recognize the power of their networks. Together, we can create a workplace where everyone feels valued, supported, and empowered to thrive. If anyone would like to learn more about our Networks, feel free to comment or message me. We are always looking to share our experience with others so we can all continue to learn together. Happy National Day for Staff Networks! 🌟 #PrincipalityNetworks #Inclusion #Diversity #Empowerment

🤝 How we build a sense of community People band together more easily when the atmosphere at work isn't too bureaucratic, or they tend to bond against oppressive bosses, which hopefully isn't the case. And community building can't be mandated by the company either. Extra-corporate activities and team building won't work that well. Before you think about the activities themselves, you should establish clear values, goals and aspirations, and only then: 1️⃣ Implement the "people-first" approach by recognizing individuals and their contributions and encouraging employee communication 2️⃣ And by organizing different activities, from hiring a happiness manager to setting up a Discord channel, movie nights or listening to music together. This week we'll cover all of this in detail. You can also read the full article on our blog. 👇 Follow the link in the comments.

How do you support neurodiverse staff in your workplace? As it’s Neurodiversity Celebration Week I've been reflecting on how, within the team I manage at Tameside Council, we acknowledge and appreciate the unique strengths and abilities of each individual. When a colleague reveals they are neurodivergent, it's crucial to approach the conversation with openness and honesty. We start by understanding their skill set, preferred communication style, and support needs for peak performance each day. I'll admit, I wasn’t initially sure how best to support them when I hired my first neurodiverse team member. But it's okay to acknowledge uncertainties and be open to learning. Supporting neurodiversity isn't about getting it right the first time; it's about ongoing dialogue and adaptation. Through collaborating with neurodiverse colleagues, I've gained invaluable insights. Our team culture now values diverse approaches to work. Personally, I've reconsidered how I engage with all team members, applying adjustments where needed. Providing support shouldn't feel like a burden—it's about creating an environment where everyone can thrive. At Tameside Council, we're fortunate to have ample support and resources. Let's continue championing neurodiversity and fostering an inclusive workplace together!

✨ Calming the Chaos... Are you ready to Cut Through the Noise? 🧠 Creative Business Strategist & Mentor 👉 I work with creatives, leaders, organisations and those who are neurodivergent (like me)
Well that was fun! 🤩 Today, I opened up the InclUSion networking event to non-members and it went really well. With my events, I aim to put people at ease by creating opportunities for people to Share, Connect and Network (that also happens to be the title of the session). My approach is to have group discussions and breakout room discussions. I give topics to discuss and then we come back together to discuss anything they find interesting and/or surprising. Today’s topics included: 💬 Any business rituals or superstitions, for example, I brush my teeth before video calls! 💬 What people are doing to grow their brand. 💬 What their favourite tech systems are. At the end, people shared why they love doing what they do and what they do to stop burnout. The hour flew by and for once we ended on time, so a gold star to me! 😁 Thanks for joining Gillian Jones 🏨🇺🇦, Angela Lyons, Willow Paule, Laura Ward, Tejas Parikh, Claire Peacock, Laura Jane Stack, Lisa de Caux and Paul Wright. I run networking events on a monthly basis and if you’d like to join me at a future event, sign up for my newsletter, Letters from Louisa: https://lnkd.in/dMTA3bxn #IngeniousCorner #OnlineNetworking #BuildingRelationships
