The use of chained Modified-Dietz TWR or horizon IRR methodologies for the construction of traditionally available indices implies returns that are not consistent with the reality that these indices should represent. No. The reinvestment assumption does not hold in real life. Distributions cause duration to be shorter than a full year maturity, biasing (if unaccounted for) annualised returns. 💡 This is why we developed a new generation of benchmarks. Vintage-based, relying on the fully diluted, time-weighted and representative returns that the DARC methodology measures. No unrealistic assumptions. Allowing investors to put money where the mouth is. 👏 Great job Aureliano. The statistics produced require a lot of efforts to calculate. Because these statistics are based on fully diluted returns, they also require a more careful interpretation, but they deliver accurate insights on the true dynamics of PE valuations.
