We are continuing to build on what we are already doing including: 💡 Fundraising for more charities - including Children's Hospice South West (yes I did do Jail and Bail, no, I wasn't really arrested, yes Optimising IT | B Corp™ did raise £1,540 on the day, and with my other 'jailbirds' that total is very close to £10k) (And yes - some people donated money to see me stuck in jail.....) 💡 Working with Moor Trees, to reforest #dartmoor in addition to our ongoing work with Ecologi | B Corp™ 💡 Working with other BCorps at every opportunity, to maximise the impact we can make 💡 We are working on our 2024 #impactreport, and you can keep track of our progress on our transparency dashboard On average, we are seeing over 50 new BCorps every month in the UK - and that is a very good thing. I think there is definitely the potential to have a BCorp as a supplier to most aspects of any business, organisation, government entity, charity or otherwise. You must have heard: Wef 1 Feb 2024, Gmail will have new sending rules. Non-compliance will result in emails being a) delayed, b) sent to the spam folder, or c) rejected, not delivered at all Who is affected? If 1) your supporters are using Gmail, & 2) you are sending 5,000 or more messages a day to Gmail accounts, your organisation will have to comply with Gmail's new requirements. Phew! It looks like this will only affect charities with a large database. Though this may not affect you, voluntary adherence has its benefits: it is less likely that your e-newsletters will end up in the spam folder. Why is Gmail mandating the change? There are 3 benefits. a) Your emails are less likely to be rejected or marked as spam. b) Your organization is less likely to be impersonated. c) Gmail recipients are given greater protection from malicious messages, such as spoofing & phishing. Week 2 of the firm's "4 for 4 Season of Giving" turns to a nonprofit organization familiar to just about everyone in South Jersey - Goodwill of Southern New Jersey & #Philadelphia. Founded in the early 1900s, Goodwill's philosophy is rooted in “not charity, but a chance” when referring to its goal of collecting used household goods and clothing. According to its mission statement, "Goodwill works to enhance people’s dignity and quality of life by strengthening their communities, eliminating their barriers to opportunity, and helping them reach their full potential through learning and the power of work." Goodwill Industries of Southern New Jersey & Philadelphia was founded in Camden, New Jersey 75 years ago. It is one of the region's largest nonprofit organizations, and Goodwill describes itself as "an entrepreneurial-minded nonprofit organization." Meaning it collects, recycles, and sells donated items in its retail stores. In turn, "[r]evenue from their sale is then used to fund ... various job training programs and career services." So while most of us know Goodwill to be a place for donation and/or retail shopping, it also provides "education, job training and career services that help individuals faced with barriers to become competitively employed."
