One of the most satisfying joys for One and Three in 2023 has been using the Live Your Values Deck that Andreea Niculescu co-authored. Here's a glimpse into how we are using the deck with clients:   •workshops that explore the intersection of personal values and company values; we’ve been helping individuals and teams understand where, and how, to find values alignment with their workplace and then make choices for how to live into the intersections (check out HBR '22 Nov-Dec mag for the business case about values alignment!)   •so many teams are convening in-person for the first time and/or looking for ways to connect virtually; facilitation of the LYV Deck activity has proven to be a meaningful team-building exercise that seeds self-reflection, camaraderie, and agency   •when we have clients seeking foundational brand work, we start with the deck, helping brands think collectively about values and dig into architecting meaningful actions that demonstrate those core beliefs   We're currently working on an offering to use the LYV exercise for New Employee Onboarding. I didn’t take a single note during the panel, too enthralled by the wisdom being shared. The next morning reflecting on everything Karolina reveiled about her journey through the creation, selling and ongoing evolution of BeyondPlay, I jotted down a list I have playfully called “The Pelc Playbook”. In no particular order here’s what Karolina shared; - start preparing your due diligence day one - use automated tools to do so (captcha & v something) -solo founder if you want 1 less persons approval -build a board that trusts you to do what you need to not tells you what to do -you have to do it all, there is no work life balance -balance is *not meant to be calculated daily it’s over your lifetime -have the conversation w your partner about the demand, your boundaries and who will fill what roles -give yourself a deadline to accomplish goals -vision boards are real -don’t ask for permission -confidence and intelligence are the two most infectious and captivating qualities and Karolina has both in troves -no matter what level of success you achieve you don’t always feel like you belong on the stage, show up and speak anyway #buildingabusiness #founder #challangerseries
