🎯 Our target: Net-zero GHG emissions across our value chain by 2050. We focus on the circularity of our own products. In 2022, TOMRA Group committed to becoming a net-zero company by 2050 and setting science-based targets (SBT) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions across our entire value chain – in line with the global target of the Paris Agreement to stay below 1.5 degrees global warming. How will we achieve this? By working to embed circular and eco-design principles in our product development processes and decision-making, we continuously improve the sustainability performance of our operations. Today we are committing to newly validated Science Based Targets initiative (#SBTi) targets as part of our Common Grounds sustainability programme. Science-based targets give companies a clearly-defined path to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. SBTi’s FLAG Guidance provides the world’s first framework for companies in land-intensive sectors to set science-based targets that include land-based emission reductions and removals. We believe that coffee, globally, can be grown in a Net Zero way by 2050 if we work together – across the industry and with farmers. We have made considerable progress in reducing our scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions in 2023, and are proud to announce these new targets to continue to drive reductions for a planet-positive future. #JDEPeetsPlanet #JDEPeetsCommonGrounds

What Does Net Zero Mean? 🌳 If you’re not 100% sure what net-zero really means for your business, you’re not the only one. There’s a bit of confusion around the term, but put simply... To achieve net-zero, your business needs to: 1. Reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by at least 90% across its operations and value chain 2. Balance up to 10% of any remaining emissions* with carbon removal projects that capture and store carbon from the atmosphere 🌍 It’s a big step that your business can take to help limit global warming to 1.5°C 🌡 📱 We would love to help you start your journey to Net Zero, just contact us here: https://lnkd.in/ewdk4jRd *This can vary by industry. Today is Earth Day. 🌍 So, what better time to look at some of the things we’re doing as part of our Force For Good programme? We’re proud to have sustainability targets that are part of our ongoing drive towards a greener, cleaner future for everyone. We’re committed to decarbonising our operations by 2040 and have had our targets validated by the Science-Based Target Initiative (SBTi), reflecting our ambition to play our part in helping to limit global warming to 1.5°C. 🌳 We’re committed to diverting 100% of our operational waste from landfill and to reduce our food waste by 50% by 2030. Plus, as part of a long-standing focus on water management, last year we set a target to reduce water use by 20% per guest by 2030. 💧 Find out more about our Force for Good programme here. https://bit.ly/3w9mWpy #PremierInn #Whitbread #ForceForGood #Sustainability #EarthDay

GMH is partnering with Delterra, UN Environment Programme, and the Climate & Clean Air Coalition to combat climate change by reducing waste-related methane emissions in the Global South. Learn more about the announcement we just made at #COP28: https://bit.ly/47FzqD0 At least 1/4 of global warming is driven by anthropogenic methane—20% comes from wastewater and landfills. Methane reduction is one of the most effective strategies for slowing global warming. Diverting organic waste from landfills is an easy way we can accomplish this. This partnership will build local waste management capacity and impact communities in Argentina, Brazil and Indonesia—places where Delterra has strong connections with stakeholders in local waste management systems. In addition to reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the joint projects will create new offtake markets for organic material, improve ecosystem health and quality of life and provide an entry point to the circular economy. #ClimateChange #MethaneMitigation #Methane

✨ Tackling climate change to secure our future 🌎 On this #WorldEnvironmentDay, we recognize the global need to slash greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by nearly half by 2030 to hold global warming below 2 °C and avoid its most dangerous impacts. As we examine our own operations around the world, we have been mapping out the ways we can continually lighten our environmental footprint to move closer to net-zero emissions. As of 2023, we have reduced our Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 21% below 2021 baseline levels. This includes reducing ~25,000 metric tons of CO₂e in 2023 through 170 projects in 25 countries through our dedicated sustainability capital expenditure program and site-led projects for energy efficiency. Interested in how you can achieve your #sustainability goals? It’s crucial to reduce CO2 emissions so that our environment recovers and stays livable again! The first step to change behavior is to create transparency. With our Environmental Product Declarations (#EPD) you get transparent and credible information about the environmental footprint of our products for low-voltage power distribution and industrial controls throughout its lifecycle - e.g. a product's material composition, energy consumption, carbon footprint, global warming potential and end-of-life scenario. This will help you to identify and choose products based on sustainability criteria. Thus, it also supports you in achieving your sustainability goals. Discover the path to a sustainable future and join us on this incredible journey! 👉 https://lnkd.in/eWtzfaP2 #Siemens #lowvoltage #sustainableEP

ASM's Climate Commitment 🌍🌱 ♻️ ASM Auto Recycling have had their company-wide near-term (scope 1 & 2) absolute emissions reduction targets approved by the Science Based Target initiative. This is an ambitious emissions reduction target in line with the latest climate science. The targets covering greenhouse gas emissions from ASM’s operations are deemed necessary to meet the goals of the Paris Agreement – limiting global warming to 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels. This target was approved using a streamlined target validation route exclusive to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). ASM Auto Recycling commits to reduce scope 1 and scope 2 GHG emissions 42% by 2030 from a 2022 base year, and to measure and reduce its scope 3 emissions. 🤝 #ClimateAction #EmissionReduction #SustainabilityGoals #ParisAgreement #GreenBusiness #ClimateAmbition #SMEsForChange #ReducingGHG #EnvironmentalResponsibility #ASMRecyclingImpact

At Keystone Group, reducing our environmental impact is at the core of our values and is detailed in our Future First Sustainability Strategy. As part of this strategy, we are thrilled to see the recent installation of PV panels at our Swadlincote site. This move is essential in helping us meet our commitment to becoming Net Zero by 2050. An estimated 70% of energy requirements will be gained from these PV panels, saving 194 tonnes of carbon a year in phase 1 (Swadlincote site) and 504 tonnes in phase 2 (Overseal site).
