I agree . This is a sad truth that has been building for quite some time. Yes, we need to get the young generation to take pride in manufacturing, like we all have for years. There is pride in it, but maybe not a lot of glory. The number of manufacturing workers retiring is so much higher than the number of young workers filling those roles. It seems that when we got involved in manufacturing, we made a commitment to this industry. Not as a job, but as a career. Unfortunately this is an industry, a trade, that can be done in other countries. Other trades cannot be sent overseas. In my opinion, we probably need to do a better job of taking care of our manufacturing workers. Manufacturing workers are not easily replaced, period. Maybe ask young workers why they are not getting into manufacturing? What are we missing from our end to help get more workers involved? We have to be open to listening to their feedback and making changes, or we will be sitting here saying the same thing year after year with the same results. Less workers. So…. Now we need to answer the question we all want to know. How can we, and what can we do differently to get the younger workers interested?
