Done. Although 135 miles by the time I cycled to the start line and back… :)

2 week countdown for SteelCON 2024 at Sheffield Hallam University, 19-21 July 2024. There are still some sponsor slots left.. so if you want to get involved and support the #grassroots #cybersecurity community, get the brand out there and have fun whilst doing it, SteelCON is where it's at. https://www.steelcon.info/ As it's a not-for-profit community event, sponsorship options start from as little as £750, so great for cyber start-ups. Likewise, if you're a large cyber security vendor and have some change leftover from Infosec 2024, then this is the event to be seen at.

Again and again, companies are being hit by ransomware. It’s frustrating to see this as a a cyber professional, as asset, patch and access control management are basic principles that every organisation MUST get right; and should have gotten right many many years ago. If you can’t defend against ubiquitous ransomware, then what chance do you stand against advanced nation state hackers? Well guess what, they’re probably already in your systems.

#infosec2024 was a blast! Hope you all enjoyed my keynote speech, but those headphones were just weird. The answer to the question at the end was D, and sorry I couldn't answer that question from the back, I just couldn't hear you. Big up to the guy who thought I was Swedish, and insisted talking to me in Swedish. I'll go for as long as you can, but surprised you didn't figure it out. Met some nice people with hats. Martin Law John Quinn. Not saying the others weren't nice, just didn't catch their names.

I love tender portals. Whack in the "cyber" keyword, and all sorts crop up.

So Canadians get a day off for Queen Victoria's birthday, but we (the English we), don't? And they call it Fete de la Reine, and she wasn't even French. Our shameful colonial past does get a bit embarassing, so I'm taking the rest of the day off in arms with my Canadian brothers. I should probably take up drinking again too.
