There are over 491 anti-LGBTQ bills in the US right now, including multiple in Ohio. Ohio Anti-LGBTQ+ legislation includes the HB 6 Trans Sport Ban, HB 8 which forces the outing of children and includes vague bans on educational content, HB 68 Ban on Gender Affirming care, HB 183 Inclusive Bathroom Ban, HB 151/ SB 83 Don’t Say Gay, and the new HB 245 Drag Ban. These bills are overreaching and designed to restrict the rights of LGBTQIA+ people. If you have never had your right to go to the bathroom legislated, you may not understand the gravity of these bills, and their far-reaching affects. Many of these bills override medical professionals and are not backed by science. Gender Affirming Care is suicide prevention. Transwomen deserve to play sports. There is no research or data to support that drag causes harm, and people who are not transgender are being arrested in Florida for using the "wrong bathroom" because they don't appear masculine or feminine "enough". One of my biggest fears as the Pride Resource Group founder and lead is that I have created rainbow targets for LGBTQIA+ people in a world and society that is not safe for us. Today, and everyday, I stand with my transgender and nonbinary siblings. I am grateful for the progress we have made at Libbey and in Northwest Ohio, but acknowledge that we still have a lot of work to do. #TransRightsAreHumanRights #DoctorsNotLegislators #Libbey #YouWillDoBetterInToledo #LGBTQIA

We stand in solidarity against injustice to any person or group. We will continue to cultivate our workplace to support open dialogue on complex, and sometimes difficult, conversations about diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging, and accessibility. We will continue to support diversity and inclusion efforts in our workplace and communities, through advocacy and allyship.

🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️Today, May 17th is the International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia, and Transphobia. #IDAHOBITday🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 At Ruah Community Services we believe there is more that unites us, then divides us, and so, this #IDAHOBIT day we ask: What can you do to stop #LGBTQIA+ Discrimination? Stand up – call out discriminatory behavior or language (if it is safe to do so) to let those around you know – that this is not okay. Educate yourself – Before asking an #LGBTQIA+ person you know to educate you, see if you can find the answers for yourself. In this day and age, there are plenty of resources out there... Here are just a few: @thequeeradvocate @queerperth @livingproudwa @OUTMidwest @AlbanyPride @blackrainbowaus Lean in, not away – when attempting to understand something new, its okay to be unsure sometimes. Its okay to ask questions when approached with care and sensitivity. To ask, is better then to avoid. To correct yourself and move on, is better then to not say anything at all – it shows you care. Show up within community – Let the #LGBTQIA+ people in your life, and in your #community, know that you are there for them, that you support them. Just because you know you care – doesn’t mean they do. Telling people we love, that we love them – there’s always time for that! Be an open ear to hear and support LGBTQIA+ perspectives and experiences. Acknowledge days of importance like #IDAHOBIT day by celebrating it in your workplace, your school, your home, between friends. Attend organized rallies and fundraisers, sign petitions… It’s important to show up in numbers to let our friends and family within the LGBTQIA+ community know that we stand in solidarity.

Spirit day is an annual day of recognition and reflection for the LGBTQIA2+ community, and especially LGBTQIA2+ youth who still experience bullying and discrimination. Here at Spirit we stand with all LGBTQIA2+ people and aim to spread awareness. Here are some things you can do to support this issue: - Attend a local Spirit Day parade to show your support for the LGBTQIA2+ community. - Lend support to someone you know and be a safe space for a friend. We can be there for each other and show empathy and increase belonging. - Advocate for LGBTQIA2+ rights, speak up against maltreatment, show people why it’s wrong. If you want a change, you need to be the change. https://lnkd.in/gXvqM-HB #EnvironmentalConsultants #SpiritDay #LGBTQIA #Youth #October #Awareness

Lucas LaRochelle founded Queering The Map, an online platform that started in 2017 with the question, “What makes a space LGBTQIA+ friendly?” In cities, queer spaces are often confined to certain neighbourhoods or venues: Lucas wanted to expand these spaces online by collecting over 850,000 stories from queer people all around the world. Each user can share their preferred testimony, and over the years, the platform has come to contain a variety of them, from the most touching to funny anecdotes to accounts of the historical moments we are living in. If you are curious and want to support the project by sharing your stories as well, visit the website www.queeringthemap.com! #Freeda #Pride2024 #QueeringTheMap #LGBTQIA+

Happy #IDAHOBIT! International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia is a day that emphasizes the importance of standing with the 2SLGBTQ+ community, joining the ongoing fight for inclusivity and taking a stand against hate. Allyship is especially important for amplifying the voices of those who are typically silenced because allyship is an ongoing journey, not a checklist or a final destination. Allyship is about internal practices; the choices and commitments you make every day to dismantle the systems of oppression around you. On the journey to building allyship? You can use the ALLIE acronym (thanks to our friend, Celia Sandhya Daniels!): A: Acknowledge your privilege L: Listen to the community L: Learn to unlearn I: Instigate tough conversations E: Educate yourself and others Check out the link below to learn more about IDAHOBIT 🌈 https://buff.ly/2LDAHFc

Tomorrow, Friday 25 August is #WearItPurpleDay. 🌈💜 Wear It Purple Day is a way to show visible support for our rainbow young people and create safe places in schools, universities, workplaces and public spaces. Why is WIPD so important? It's about showing LGBTQIA+ young people that they have the right to be proud of who they are. By showing support: • You and your organisation can bring awareness about the shocking statistics, discrimination and issues Rainbow youth face. • You’re championing the need for safer places and spaces. • You’re showing young people that there is a community of support around them. • And most importantly, that they have a right to be proud of who they are and who they might become. Don't forget to wear purple and show solidarity with young LGBTIQ+ people on 25 August! Because everyone deserves to feel safe, loved and respected. 🌈💜 Learn more here: https://ow.ly/oU6n50PCGO5 #WearItPurple #WIPD #LGBTQIA #LGBTQInclusion #InclusionMatters #VisibilityMatters

Today (10 December), as the world celebrates human rights, we must remember that equality and justice are not yet a reality for everyone. The LGBT+ community continues to face discrimination and violence in many parts of the world. Here are 5 key things we can do to promote LGBT+ equality: 1. Educate ourselves and others: Learn about the history and experiences of the LGBT+ community. Challenge bias, stereotypes and assumptions. 2. Speak out against discrimination: Don't tolerate homophobic or transphobic slurs or jokes. Call out discrimination, microaggressions, whenever you see it. 3. Enabling Access to healthcare: Comprehensive and inclusive healthcare services that are sensitive to the needs of LGBT+ individuals. 4. Promoting LGBT+ inclusion: Creating safe, welcoming and inclusive workplaces for the LGBT+ community is crucial. We must embrace and celebrate LGBT+ identities, ensuring everyone feels valued and respected, at home, school & college, workplace & society. 5. Be an ally: Create a safe and inclusive space for LGBT+ people in your personal and professional life. Be a vocal advocate for their rights and well-being. Together, we can create a world where everyone is treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their sexual orientation, gender identity & expression & sex characteristics (SOGIESC). ️ #WorldHumanRightsDay #LGBTQ+ #Equality #Inclusion #Justice
