What does a lint roller (Fusselroller) have to do with our Guiding Principles? Today is Living Culture Day within Deutsche Telekom. It is the day of the year when teams come together to discuss collaboration and our #GuidingPrinciples. Whether in a team meeting, over breakfast or lunch together. On this day, common experiences should be created and appreciation for each other shared. Today we had a joint breakfast within #GroupAudit, many thanks to Jeannette Gliesner for the great preparation! And thanks to the colleagues from Top Exec Management for their participation :D Now what does a lint roller have to do with it? When I wanted to put on my old Living Culture shirt this morning, there was super much lint on it. So I took my lint roller to remove it and be ready for the day. And that was telling. Throughout the year, the Guiding Principles are always with us. But sometimes they get a little dusty or we need a little reminder. And for that, Culture Day is a great tool. To get the Guiding Principles out of the dust again even more important: to create shared experiences with our teams. We roll our eyes at so-called company values that look good as framed posters on walls ... ... but aren't really reflected in the company's culture. The truth is, it's not only companies who fall for "aspirational value declarations". We do too. 🤭 There's nothing wrong with having aspirational values — so long as we're actively working on incorporating them into our lives. If we're actually not doing that, then we're just like those companies with well-sounding mission and value statements that only look good as posters on walls. #midlife #intentionalliving
