How I went from a mere 100 followers in December 2022 to 11k followers on Tiktok, 3k+ followers on Instagram & 2k+ followers on Twitter in 2023… How did I do it? Stay with me. Getting visibility on social media can be anything from hard to frustrating. Sometimes it’s a bittersweet experience but when you get the hang of it, you’ll totally enjoy the ride. December 2022, I created a page on Tiktok and set out to put out content in my spoken word poetry niche. In a space of one year, I scored over 100% growth in followership, profile visits and impressions, amassing close to a million views on my page. My Instagram page also recorded remarkable growth with over 3 thousand new followers and an average of 7-10 thousand monthly profile visits. Here are some of the practical tips I gathered to organically build my account: 1.) Consistency: Obviously, you’ve heard this a lot from people who’ve also scaled their accounts but the truth remains that consistency is key to building an account. After you’ve identified a niche, consistently put out content in that niche. This is how you train the algorithm to recognize your content. 2.) Use Hooks: One reason many content creators are not getting as much visibility is not because their content isn’t relevant. It’s because it did not appeal to the viewer at first sight and trust me, it takes less than 3 seconds to decide whether to swipe past your content or not. So, use hooks!! Hooks could be anything from captivating visuals to thought-provoking headlines. Figure out what works best for you. 3.) Collaborate, don’t compete: Learn from other content creators, apply new strategies to your content. And tbh, I laughed for a few seconds because I know 'The grass is always greener on the other side'. But today I'm gonna share a few insights from my journey to make the grass greener for all of you! Here's how to start - 1. Choose your Niche - While starting Content Creation, always go with a niche, something that you like or you're passionate about so that you know what you want to create and you'll be able to talk more about that. 2. Quality or Quantity - If you're just starting out with a new account, you need to focus on quantity because Instagram needs more people's attention, the more people you are able to bring to your page, the more it will grow you. Once you reach a good amount of followers (Around 5-10k) start increasing your quality because now there are people who care about your content. 3. Choose your Audience - You need to know what kind of audience you want to cater. Do you wanna make a community of you like-minded people or you want to focus on mass people for things like entertainment and comedy and gain followers. 4. Define your goals - Define your short term and long term goals in terms of Content making. If you're making content catering mass Audience and to gain followers, you can do alot of brand collabs. But if you're there as a professional gaining clients, you shouldn't do a lot of brand collabs as it somehow affects the trust of your audience and community. By alot of brand collabs, I mean 5-8 collabs every month with every other brand. This is what I've learnt in all my journey and I'm sharing all of this so that you can also implement.
