We made this "explainer" video to help viewers understand the work that went into our reporting at Scripps News about the Maine mass shooting in October 2023. We filed several record requests to try to understand how the shooter was able kill 18 people when there were so many documented warning signs ahead of the shooting. Great piece, Lori! I rarely agree with reporters being "in the news" but a process piece like this is the exception to the rule... lifting the veil to show how professional reporting can affect change is crucial! Especially in our current climate with eroding trust in media. Kudos!

Impeccabile reporting as usual! This reporting proves that if the laws that are put in place are used correctly, we could prevent mass shootings.
