Developing your people is an investment in your organizations success. So often leaders worry that their team members will gain The ability to move forward in their careers, upward in the organization, and out of their department… but that’s exactly what you want to happen. If you don’t provide development opportunities for your employees to grow within the organization, they will look for opportunities somewhere else. It’s so much better for you to set a development budget each year to help your teams grow in your department and up the corporate ladder than to lose top talent. If you don’t have natural upward-moving positions established in your ladder, create them… consider skill levels in the same job title. Give employees direction for growth and they won’t have to leave your team.
