🚀 Excited to share that I've successfully completed the "Global Perspectives" course at GLOBIS University - Graduate School of Management, led by the insightful Toru Takahashi-sensei. 🎓 This transformative journey has deepened my understanding of economic intricacies, state dynamics, and global perspectives, leaving me with valuable insights that I'm eager to share. 📚 Key Learnings: - GDP and Investment Essentials: Explored the essence of GDP, understanding it as the market value of goods and services. The equation - Savings = Private Saving + Govt. Borrowing + Foreign Borrowing - unveiled the critical role of savings in driving investment. - ACL Framework: Embraced the Autonomy, Capacity, and Legitimacy (ACL) framework, a powerful tool for assessing organizational competence. This framework offered a structured approach to analyze entities from a management perspective. - Cultural Nuances and Global Strategies: Delved into cultural nuances such as "Guanxi" in China, and strategies of major players like China and India. These insights enriched my understanding of global business dynamics, emphasizing the importance of personal connections and diplomatic balance. - Regional Integration Dynamics: Explored the complexities of regional integration, from Free Trade Areas to Political Unions. The Mercosur case study highlighted challenges arising from differing development stages among member countries, emphasizing the need for mutual investment beyond economic benefits. - Economic Approaches Contrast: Contrasted economic approaches between resource-rich Saudi Arabia and resource-poor Japan. Explored the challenges of transitioning from oil reliance to foreign direct investment, emphasizing the importance of leadership, human resource investment, and societal impact considerations. 🌍 Why it Matters: Understanding these intricacies is crucial in navigating the intersections of business, economics, and governance on a global scale. Future Literacy for Business   The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) considers Futures Literacy one of the most essential leadership skills of the 21st century, it encourages us to use our imagination and agency to prepare, recover, and invent as changes occur. Strategic foresight, a decades-old discipline, enables us to create functional views of alternative futures and possibilities. Through this process, organizations are better prepared for potential threats and can capitalize on hidden opportunities.    Predicting the future is impossible, foresight allows us to explore the external environment for trends and leverage those insights to map the emerging landscape. Tools such as foresight, scenario development, and horizon scanning inform businesses about different outcomes and tactics. "Time flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind"  indeed! I can't believe it is already four weeks since our three-month long learning, sharing and networking journey of a life time at the BMZ African-German Leadership Academy was climaxed with a dinner and certificate presentation ceremony at the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) in Bonn. The journey that started with a two-week online phase and continued with a 10-week in-person phase at IDOS with eager emerging African leaders lived beyond expectation. Salient topics such as an Introduction to Agenda 2063 & SDGs 2030, Governace for Sustainability, Climate Change and Adaptation Strategies for more resilient societies and Tackling Inequalities were explored under the Academic Modules. Other equally important topics were also delved into under the Leadership Modules and Innovation Projects. Key institutions including the EU Commission, the EU Parliament and the AU's Special Mission to EU and OACPS (All in Brussels) and the Bundestag and Reichstagskuppel (Berlin) were visited and better understood. Rare and crucial exchange and networking opportunities were provided. It was an arduous and exacting three months, yet exceedingly fulfilling and game changing. Energised and fired up by the invaluable takeaways from the Academy and with renewed resolve to contribute our quota towards changing the African narrative, I believe things will certainly not be the same. Although the time has flown so quickly and soon, its shadows and footprints in the form of the lessons, rich experiences, quality networks and the positively changed mindset gained during the Academy have been amply left behind in all 23 participants and is being put to good use. I am most grateful to the BMZ, IDOS and BMZ African-German Leadership Academy for putting this training programme together and for the funding support. I am extremely indebted to Dr. Samatha Ruppel, Head of the Academy, Julia Osada, Malika Yunussova, Melanie, Olga, Issabele, Albert, Herman and the entire team at IDOS. Thanks to all the facilitators and all colleague participants for sharing this journey with me. Enough appreciation also to anyone whose effort contributed to the amazing Academy experience. Congratulations to all Cohort 3 mates on successfully completing the Advance Professional Training. May the future be brighter. As the curtains come down, the learnings from the 2023 Teach For All Global Conference will linger for ages to come. Themed 'Learning from Africa: Developing Students as Leaders', this conference transcended continental boundaries. It's amazing how from New Zealand to Chile, from South Africa to Estonia a new generation of leaders are emerging all with a focus towards tackling the many challenges that afflict the globe, each in their distinctive ways.
