What a treat to attend the All Tech Is Human gathering at The Royal Society ! So lovely to run into many friends (Abigail Oppong) and meet new ones. Welcome to London Gwyn Glasser and congrats on your well themed the LEGO Group prize, the “James Brown of Responsible AI” David Ryan Polgar was proud! A few takeaways on the panels which focused on child safety: ⚫️Banning children is not necessarily affective because… how can we enforce this? Why age 16 as the cut off? What types of social media are we banning? And not all screen time is equal, with some types proving helpful for children. ⚫️Warning labels are only effective when they are part of a larger strategy, for instance, warning labels on cigarettes was helpful alongside banning their use in public spaces and therapeutic support - warning labels are not a silver bullet fix. ⚫️We need to consult more with youth about their relationship to emerging technologies as they are the primary beneficiaries or opposite of AI — as Maximilian Milovidov put it “the youth are 20% of the population 100% of the future” Ps. Great to see this Cathy Li - Always love talking to investors who discuss how corporate digital responsibility impacts their investment decisions, specifically in terms of how they evaluate use of AI assurance mechanisms as evidence for decreased risks in their portfolio. 📈 A business case for ethics? To attract investment - as Responsible AI is becoming a key consideration when evaluating portfolio risks and conducting due diligence reviews.... 📖 Looking forward to reading this playbook that clearly illustrates the role investors play in this ecosystem of RAI - also important for industry, as it shows that investors are aware of and can/do consider AI assurance mechanisms, underscoring their purpose and prioritisation in due diligence and funding efforts.  #aifinance #aiinvestor
