August 22, 2023: Bayer Pakistan has entered into a strategic partnership with Farmdar, to obtain accurate and actionable crop data backed by artificial intelligence and remote sensing. Bayer Pakistan’s Crop Science division, which offers a portfolio of crop protection and seed products, is continuously innovating to serve the country’s smallholder farmers better, helping them grow sustainably and produce more with less resources, ultimately driving sustainable overall growth in the agriculture industry. The data provided by Farmdar will enable accurate, swift tracking of crops with real-time insights. Access to these insights allows for more accurate, data-driven decisions to be taken with regard to the crop cycle. This in turn improves productivity and yields, helps reduce farming costs, and mitigates the impact of climate change on agriculture. Ahmed Ali, Managing Director and CEO of Bayer Pakistan commented on the occasion, “A typical farmer makes almost 40 key decisions from start to finish of a crop cycle, and digital solutions such as the one provided by Farmdar allow us to harness data analytics and satellite-aided crop scans to fill in critical knowledge gaps that will help inform these decisions. The incorporation of digital tech and solutions into agri is the need of the hour. With this partnership, our intent is not just to enable greater productivity for farmers, and ultimately the industry and economy as a whole, but also to maximize the utilization of already-scarce resources. I’m pleased to have Farmdar on board supporting us on this urgent mission for agriculture in Pakistan.” Muzaffar Manghi, Co-founder Farmdar, added, “We are delighted to partner with Bayer, a company with a strong legacy of supporting farmers across Pakistan. Farmdar’s A.I. and digital technology will provide the tools to aid farmers’ decision-making. It is our belief that through the adoption of such technology we can ultimately play a part in strengthening food security.” Bayer is committed to ensuring global food security, fighting climate change and conserving resources. The company has been a major player in agriculture and healthcare in Pakistan for the last 60 years, demonstrating a commitment to creating greater value for customers, stakeholders and society as a whole, and continues to operate its Crop Science, Pharmaceuticals and Consumer Health businesses in Pakistan in line with Bayer’s global vision, Health for All, Hunger for None.

Head of Research | Customer Experience | Data Storyteller | Insights Specialist | Customer Journey Content Writer | Strategy | Communication | Service Quality
While writing this article, I recalled the time when I was with a research agency and agriculture sector clients like Bayer (formerly Monsanto), Jaffer Agro, Syngenta etc. were my clients. Voice of customers, their opinion, feedback, overall journey and experience with the brand matters a lot. While a lot is happening in agriculture sector, and financial institutions are there to help the farmers and economy grow, there should be a combined effort by both sectors. Agri experts and FI should collaborate on joint initiatives with the aim to support farmers. This can be done by offering financial and technical support. Field demonstrations are regularly held by agri experts to showcase best practices and new technologies to farmer. FIs can leverage and in the same session, educate farmers about the financial assistance, crop insurance availability to them. Both sectors should leverage digital platforms and provide the farmers access to online tools and apps for financial management along with market information and agronomic advice. Precision farming technologies can be developed to optimize resource utilization and maximize crop yield. Together, both the sectors can create holistic support system for the farmers, addressing their financial as well as technical needs to promote sustainable agriculture and rural development. #agriculturechallenges #financing #digitalplatform #fielddemonstration #cropyield #agriexperts #collaboration #climatechange Bayer | Crop Science Syngenta Jaffer Agro Services (Pvt) Limited Click here for a downloadable version of the latest newsletter:

We've teamed up with Brazilian growers to address their unique needs for improved efficiency. They've told us they need clarity in a world filled with solutions and platforms - a clear understanding of the problems they face, guidance on the right products, timing, location, and quantities. So, our Brazilian team created Smart Ag Nation (SAN), a prescription engine which harnesses data from various sources to digitally tailor recommendations for each of the growers' specific needs. 🌱 The pilot is already in progress, involving farmers, agronomists, and advisors. SAN focuses on accurately determining the phenological stage of their crops for precise application of crop protection products and enhanced yield, eliminating the need for guesswork. It also provides ideal planting scenarios, such as harvest date, drought risk, and estimated yield. According to Roberson Marczak, Innovation and Sustainability Manager [pictured at AgroBIT Brasil recently], the solution also offers the functionalities of an agronomic management system for farmers, such as field monitoring tools for pests, diseases and weeds, as well as satellite images and field visit reports. Marczak says, “The system’s biggest difference will be combining this information into a data lake that will be the engine to feed the artificial intelligence algorithms and provide farmers with insights into the management and status of their crops. Its AI algorithms will initially be focused on soybeans.” After a recent workshop with the farmers testing this service, we're gearing up for the next stage. Stay tuned! Adama Brasil
