This morning, the Internet was buzzing with Google's big announcement: the rollout of their Search Generative Experience (SGE) in India. Had to try it, and wow—it's a new layer of AI sitting right on top of our familiar search experience. You opt-in and suddenly, search queries pop up with an AI-generated snapshot. Almost like having a personal guide before diving into the sea of links. What caught my attention is that search ads still appear first, even before this new AI summary. This tells me that while many things might change in the world of search, some elements are likely here to stay. If your business relies on Google Search, keep an eye on this; both organic and paid strategies might need revisiting soon. The SGE feature is currently available in both English and Hindi, and is accessible via Chrome or an updated Google app on Android, iPhone, or iPad. Google's penchant for offering similar products under different names often leads to user confusion. What exactly is Bard? And if it's a Gen AI solution from Google, then where does Gemini fit in? Just when I thought that LLMs are over-whelming, the start of the new year of 2024 brings a whole new dimension from the realm of AI - the Rabbit R1 which is an AI device powered by Large Action Models (LAM). Think about what result you are looking for and what you need/don’t need. Perhaps you’ll find yourself feeling less overwhelmed from the decision fatigue of hundreds of new apps coming at you. Then, if that fails, ask AI how to feel about it all. 😂😉🤪🤯🥰

Is Google building an everything app? I recently interviewed Filip Tichy, a business consultant, and Jakub C., a tech entrepreneur, about how new AI features like Google AI Overviews will reshape the internet and how businesses can adapt. What stood out most in our discussion was exploring why Google is pursuing this Overviews path, which, to be honest, hasn’t been very successful so far. Filip and Jakub believe Google might be trying to capture a larger share of the advertising market by making users spend more time within its browser interface. This approach could centralize ads in one place, reducing opportunities for other platforms to sell online banners on individual websites. I find this perspective intriguing, as it suggests Google could continue generating ad revenue even if its new features significantly reduce website traffic. Is AI living up to the hype 🧐 Not according to more than half of people downloading AI-first apps.   Let me explain.   While customer demand for these applications is sky-high.   📈 Chat GPT reached 100M users in under 2 months (vs. 9 months for the second place TikTok).   Both user retention and engagement are (still) low.   ✋ On average, only 42% of users continue to use these apps after one month (vs. 85% for YouTube)   ✋ On average, users interact with these apps only 4 days/month (vs. 26 days for WhatsApp) Now is still the time to join the club of early adapters💡.
