Being back at home, I want to share my takeaways from the #AWS Summit Berlin. Gen AI was everywhere, and many companies had at least made some RAG implementation. And there was one theme among those who already had LLMs in place: you need good data to train or augment your models to get good results. A great example came from ERGO Group AG where Dr. Sebastian Kaiser and Alexander Haag saw what was believed to be 17% of hallucinations in the output of their RAG-enabled chatbot. This then turned out to be caused by outdated data used to augment the chatbot's output. (In the end, they saw around 3% of hallucinations after fixing this.) Another talk I enjoyed a lot was providing some insights on the data mesh implementation of Kühne + Nagel International AG provided by Bernd Dahmen and Maik Wurdel. Their data mesh architecture really seems to be one essential vehicle for the digital transformation, so data is king here too. But there were also other interesting things, like platform engineering implementations and how the public cloud helps a public sector entity innovate. AWS Summit Berlin was definitely worth the visit!

At the AWS Stockholm Summit 2024, I was truly inspired by the smart minds around me. We saw how AI is changing our lives, especially with RAG systems that make complex tasks simple. AWS showed us how easy it can be to build and use these systems. The idea of making apps with "reasoning", shared in the keynote, really resonated with me. It’s an exciting change that could transform how we create software. For instance, Kone’s AI assistant shows how AI can make everyday work better for their technician. The summit also sparked conversations about the switch of AWS Lambdas into no-code/low-code alternatives, challenging us to rethink architectural design. AWS continues to push the boundaries, introducing services that make previous methods obsolete. We’re moving towards services that operate independently of AWS Lambdas, which could lead to easier maintenance and enhanced security. We also remembered that new doesn’t always mean forgetting the old. Sometimes, the best way forward is to combine what we know works with new ideas. These events are more than just meetings; they’re where we come together to think bigger and bolder. I came away more excited than ever to push the boundaries of technology and share what I’ve learned. At Today’s AWS summit Washington Dave Levy, Vice President of AWS Worldwide Public Sector (WWPS), offered a compelling vision (despite some vocal hecklers opposing AI). He laid out that GenAI is the “opportunity of our generation” and focused on the impressive speed and magnitude of it’s impact by highlighting how it will impact use cases as diverse as improving yields for rural farmers, developing new medicines, reducing carbon footprints up to 99% or augmenting our workplace to accelerate innovation.  As a government-focused event it had more detail on how AI can also support government agencies with policy, security and defense as well. I hope that transparent and collaborative forums like this help us navigate this wave of change for the good of all! https://lnkd.in/eQhE2U7i #genAI #AWS #Zinnov #Futuretech
