18-month-long MBAs have become irrelevant. In a world where skills evolve fast (hello prompt engineers 🧑💻), and there's a need for hyper-specialists, I don't advise young students to spend too much time learning business at school. At the same time, I've always had my doubts about venture-backed EdTech businesses. I haven't seen many succeed massively in the past. Then I heard Ariel Renous and Roy Wellner pitch me Augment.org last year, and they convinced me instantly that they could build a gigantic business out of an intense online program where students could learn company-building from the founders of major companies like Waze, Eventbrite, Wikipedia, YouTube and more. That's why we invested in Augment.org with Origins then, and supported them again in their new $6M raise today led by RTP Global, well done team ❣️

Youthpreneur Specialist| Purposeful Parenting & Education Advocate| Digital Asset Creator| Voiceover Artist| Purposefully harnessing creativity, innovation and education, to help shape a brighter future.
Spent quality time this morning with Verity on my lap. My lap is where she wanted to be this morning, as I was sitting at the computer working on a lead magnet and automation I was creating for a client. Something wasn’t working properly and she was light-heartedly asking me some questions to consider, so I can find a solution. Children are so wise. I commended her for her wisdom and I thanked her for keeping me company and I sent her off on her merry way to play, so that I could super-focus and resolve the issue, which I subsequently figured out. I love that I get to have these conversations with my 6 year old daughter. She knows what physical and digital products are. She’s had them both and with my help, she’s served customers around the world through her online shop. Yes, we talk about Peppa Pig and we watch frozen and we do all the kiddie stuff. But I’m also intentional about equipping she and her 10 year old brother Prince, with a mindset and skills that aren’t the default. I want my children to have their own definition of success. I want them to create a meaningful life around the things the love and I want them to have an outlook on life through the lens and mindset of endless opportunities and limitless possibilities. As a mother, not only do I believe the onus is on me to be their biggest influence, but I also believe in not relying on the school system to fully equip my children for the future ahead. It’s one of the many reasons why I created my Additional Income Mastery (AIM) Academy. Prince, Verity and I have created a course called the Young and Paid Mini Course available in AIM Academy, amongst the many resources to guide you on how to kindle your child’s entrepreneurial flame. And especially for the mothers who want to break the cycle of poverty, AIM Academy empowers you to do that and so much more. So, if you are a mum and all of this resonates, then I invite you to: 𝙅𝙤𝙞𝙣 𝘼𝙄𝙈 𝘼𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙮 𝙣𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙡𝙚𝙖𝙧𝙣 𝙝𝙤𝙬 𝙩𝙤 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙣𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙗𝙖𝙨𝙚𝙙 𝙤𝙣 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙚𝙭𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙨, 𝙠𝙣𝙤𝙬𝙡𝙚𝙙𝙜𝙚 & 𝙨𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡𝙨 + 𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙚 𝙚𝙦𝙪𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙚𝙙 𝙩𝙤 𝙞𝙜𝙣𝙞𝙩𝙚 𝙮𝙤𝙪𝙧 𝙘𝙝𝙞𝙡𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙣’𝙨 𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙥𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙪𝙧𝙞𝙖𝙡 𝙨𝙥𝙞𝙧𝙞𝙩. Minerva's Virtual Academy is growing like it’s strapped to a rocket right now, and the team and I are working full-time to keep up — it’s fantastic, but it hasn’t happened overnight. If you charted MVA’s trajectory on a graph, you’d see an exponential upward trend…following about 7 years of either slow steady growth or even flatlining. That’s Minerva Tutors, the tutoring business I still run today, which turns 10 this year. Its success hasn’t been as flashy or headline-grabbing as MVA, but it’s why MVA exists. It’s where I learned to be the leader I am now, it’s where I proved many of the concepts that MVA depends on to work, and it laid the foundational groundwork that launched the Academy. If I’d given up then, none of this would be happening now. If things don’t feel like they’re taking off yet, keep going. You’re fuelling the rocket – the launch will come 🚀

Rackin’ up the awards.. 🙌🏻 Kuder Galaxy is a personal favorite - a hard truth slammed into me when I joined Kuder: you cannot be what you cannot see. This certainly hit home for a kid from rural Iowa who didn’t understand the breadth of careers and occupations in the world. Honestly, I can lament that, but another truth is that some similar limitations will always persist: kids’ world view is largely fueled by the community they live in and the people in their lives. Galaxy helps elementary educators and counselors take aim straight at this conundrum: to expand kids’ knowledge and understanding about the world of work through gamified, age appropriate learning content. Set in space, this learning software exposes a comprehensive view of the world of work, over 100 different occupations, and allows kids to explore all of that without the inherent biases we can create in our own mind based on gender or ethnicity. As a parent of 6 and 8 year old girls, I see and hear them asking questions about work. Funny story: when my dad (retired for 13 years) was on his laptop, my daughter asked him if he was working. Clearly my work and my husband’s work is nearly 100% computer based! The takeaway - knowledge about the world of work doesn’t just slam into kids, we have to build an understanding and awareness that there are jobs outside of teacher, nurse, software engineer, etc. so they can be prepared to make informed plans and decisions about their future.
It's time to celebrate 🎉 The EdTech Awards by EdTech Digest have recognized both Kuder Navigator and Kuder Galaxy as outstanding platforms for learners as well as leaders across the education and workforce sectors: https://okt.to/S3qYA0
