The Oval Partnership are once again taking part in the Samworth Charity Challenge on 18th May 2024 to raise funds for Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice. It's an exhilarating & gruelling adventure race for teams of four, where you are required to plan and navigate your way around the course in order to collect points. The event is held every 2 years and will see our team pushed to the limits on a triathalon course which includes Mountain, Canoe & Cycle stages with all being approximately 3 hours duration and will be held near Ambleside in the Lake District. That sounds easy right? Wrong! this isn't a walk in the park. There are 2 difficulties to choose from, Tough and Elite and we know from past experience they are not for the faint hearted. But the charity that we support makes this challenge worthwhile. Bluebell Wood Childrens Hospice help children with end of life care and provide bereavement support to their families through what is such a challenging period to make what time they have left special. Well, that was fun..! I decided to test an upcoming activation concept for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland & Northwest Indiana by running a mini version myself. I’m happy to reconfirm that peer-to-peer fundraising is alive and well! 🎉 And no… it does not need to be tied to an event or special occasion. In a little over 24 hours, I exceeded my goal - raising $1,500+ from 24 donors. Overview of Modular Structures for the "Good Samaritan" Charitable Foundation. We have constructed two headquarters buildings and a cafe, providing a comfortable working space for volunteers. As a trial attorney, you learn to recite facts in a compelling manner. In doing so, you learn that truth is often stranger than fiction. So let me tell you a story... I left my decade-long career as a prosecutor to join The National Child Protection Task Force full-time in 2021. I had no apprehension. It was a leap of faith in a dedicated group of individuals who were focused on saving #justonemore child from exploitation. However, I had one regret: not being able to directly support my community the way I did as an ADA. I missed that direct impact I was able to give survivors and their families. Then I received an email earlier this year from an officer we trained in New York. That officer was thanking us. He told us about a young girl who went missing - presumably a runaway - in his jurisdiction. However, based on our training he knew something didn't add up. Utilizing techniques NCPTF taught him, they located the girl with a man twice her age who had groomed her via a video game platform. Between our training and their ceaseless work, they were able to recover the girl in 24 hours even though the defendant took her out of state. The defendant brought her to my home county in Pennsylvania. He's being prosecuted by my former office. NCPTF strives to serve all law enforcement and strengthen their ability to recover missing and exploited children. The more we are able to train officers, to assist them in their times of need, the wider the our impact. It's the butterfly effect in action.
