LinkedIn! After another year of nursing, I’m still looking to transition my career into pharmaceutical or medical device sales. What do I mean by "still"? Last year I applied to over 20 medical sales positions - majority being entry level because I felt that despite my 6+ years experience in the medical industry, my inability to provide numbers and dollar signs wasn’t enough to be considered for a higher level position. I received rejection emails regarding 4 of those positions, the rest I received nothing. Rejection brings resiliency. In the past, rejection has led to me lead successful collegiate volleyball teams, hold collegiate volleyball records, be awarded a DAISY Award, be voted Most Liked and Appreciated Nurse hospital-wide. This year rejection led me look past my accolades and focus on being present. It led me to gaining another year of experience in the medical industry by taking care of patients, meeting people of the Nashville community, and gaining friendships with COO’s, surgeons, hospitalists, APP’s, pharmacists, residents, and fellow nurses. It’s been one of the best years in my nursing career. Rejection has taught me more than I could ever imagine. As I continue striving to advance my career, I’m looking to utilize my skills, knowledge and experience and apply them towards an industry I’ve been passionate about for many years. I WANT to work for a company who is willing to support and guide me towards making this transitions. I WANT a team that is willing to teach me how to become a successful sales professional in addition to the successful medical professional I already am. On the contrary, I WANT to be a teammate who helps sales professionals become more successful when dealing with medical professionals. The team at the WG Healthcare UK Ltd, Wright Medical, Lima Corporate nexus, that worked with us was immense. Somehow, we attracted the right people. Not just right, but good. Not just good, but great. It’s not rose tinted glasses, the facts back this up. Our customer services and warehouse team were second to none. Phil Judd & Kate Foard led our teams. After working the complexity of medical devices they’d all be head and shoulders above everyone else. We even did a bit of match making with Mark Jefferies now happily married. Ash Wells, especially, was keen to build a sales team that would maximise sales. This meant that we helped some employee’s take a step into running their own business. Mike VDM & Van Der Medical. Paul Winsor & WINSOR MEDICAL LIMITED. Adam Shaw & Shawmedica. Adrian Casson & Cass Medical. We helped birth LEDA Orthopaedics with Jonathan Bloy & David Plane (Congrat’s on 10 years boys). Whilst others like James Butcher & Amo Bassi got the bug & went on to found RIOS Medical & JAMO Orthopaedics If you want to launch a product in the UK, you could do a lot worse than speak to these guys. They are good. But, working for yourself isn’t always what people wanted, even though sometimes they thought they might. What Ash and I did was provide the container for everyone to be able to be at their optimum more of the time. When you do that magical things start to happen. "Hospitals and the health care system are facing margin pressures, which is changing the buying process for medical devices. The new buying process creates a sizeable challenge for the traditional industry sales and service model. In the past, medical device vendors routinely persuaded the highest-value physicians to use their devices based on technical features and benefits. This created a dependency: physicians and nurses became dependent on sales representatives for technical product questions as well as ensuring the appropriate device was available at all times. As a result, highly compensated sales representatives transformed into technical service representatives. As the margins funded medical device purchases and services came under pressure, sales leaders shift lower-value service activities to less costly resources, thus freeing expensive sellers to help grow the business.
