I recently went to Renaissance Hotels for dinner with my friends and noticed an EV charging station. In early 2000, when smartphones when not prominent, not having Wi-Fi at hotels was not a deal breaker or a maker. But eventually, it became one. Considering the same in growing E- Vehicle adoption in India, 25% of the new vehicles on the road will be electric. And people will want to charge at home, work and travel. As EVs have become extremely popular, travelers are already seeking hotels with EV-charging amenities.  The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) installed 224 EV charging stations at its 92 properties towards inclination on Environmental Stewardship, one of the Key pillars of Paathya the Company’s ESG framework. Marriott International collaborated with CHARGE ZONE to add 100 charging stations across the Country. @Welcome Heritage by ITC Hotels joined hands with SunFuel Electric to install charging across its hotels in India. The presence of EV charging stations at hotels is enabling more travelers to travel in their EVs. Shares of Chennai-based Apollo Sindoori Hotels zoomed 32% in just 2 days to end at Rs 1,998 on Tuesday on NSE. The hospitality service management and support services company is building a multi-level parking facility in Ayodhya to accommodate visitor vehicles in Tedhi Bazar Shares of Praveg, which runs luxury tents in tourist places in India, have rallied 47% in just 3 days to Rs 1,219.10 on BSE. Shares of mapping technology solutions provider Genesys International today rallied up to 7% to day's high at Rs 487 on Tuesday Unlike the above three stocks, Indian Hotels is a largecap with a market capitalisation of over Rs 73,000 crore. IRCTC, which has a monopoly in online booking of train tickets, is also in focus as millions are expected to travel to Ayodhya in the next few months. The PSU stock is up 23% in a month. Saturday Solutions Mumbai Travel #14 Extend Mono Line from Chembur to Ghatkopar (East). Presently the Mono runs from Chembur to Sant Ghadge Maharaj Chowk at Mahalaxmi (East) via Wadala. This mono line does not have a proper source for getting passengers on the northern side as it does not touch the Central Railway main local line. The Mono line would intersect with Metro2 (DN Nagar – Manadale) at RC Marg (in Chembur) but it does no touch M4 which is an Eastern Metro. Monorail, which has been billed as a “white elephant” in the past, is expected to incur a net loss of over Rs 500 crore in the financial year (2023-24). This model is not sustainable in the long run. To make the Mono profitable it must increase its footfall and the easiest way is to get it to connect to Central Railway main line and the Metro line 4. Suggestion : Extend Mono line from Chembur by arround 2.4 kms at the northern end to touch Garodia Nagar / Amar Mahal junction metro station on M4 and then to Ghatkopar East. (local line). It would thus get traffic from Central Railway Main line, Metro 4 and Metro 1 (Versova- Ghatkopar) passengers. It would also connect M4 to M1 via the Mono. The benefits of the extension would be ease in movement from local train to Mono to Metro. The Mono, Metro and local must ‘integrate’ and complement each other so that each works as a feeder for the other. Thus being mutually beneficial to each other.
