Time to think differently about funding in 2024? This is last year's big change in the startup world. This year, the world of startups is turning some old ideas on their head, especially for businesses not focused on AI. Surprising? Yes, but the latest findings show something unexpected: newer startups are doing better than many thought. These young startups are seeing good value in their businesses and they're not facing as many funding cuts. This is a refreshing change in a tough money world. But, it's not the same story for everyone. While these new startups are finding success, older ones are finding it harder to get investments. It's important to remember that these trends don't apply to every startup. Some new ones might struggle, while some older ones are doing just fine. These insights are helpful, but they only show us a part of the bigger picture. Here's where it gets interesting. These changes might mean startups should think about going public (IPO) earlier than before. This could be a new way to grow fast and change the usual path for tech startups. Right now, it looks like the newer startups are getting more attention from investors, but the startup world is always changing fast. Maybe it's time for startups to think differently about how they get their funding. What do you think about this shift? Is the startup world ready for a new approach to growing and getting money?

On the occasion of the DDR&D opening the DSEI 2023 exhibition in London, the Israeli Ministry of Defense has published the DDR&D's Semi-Annual Startup Report 📜, revealing the scope of investment and cooperation with the Israeli startup community in the first half of 2023. The report was written in the DDR&D's Content Department, under the leadership of Col. Nir Weingold. Key data from the report: 💻 206 startups and small companies are operating within the framework of DDR&D mechanisms 💵 Over the years, DDR&D has managed R&D orders amounting to $337 million 🤝 • DDR&D opens a path for startup companies to forge overseas connections with 6 companies leading G2G projects worth a total of about $44m 💸 For the 119 companies for which data about capital raised is available, the average capital raised is about $8.8 million. Total funds raised are about $634m ✨ The DDR&D collaborates with 3 dual-use VC funds that have invested tens of millions of dollars in dual-use startup companies, and also opened Innofense, a security innovation center for startup companies. Last month, the third cohort of Innofense was completed, and the fourth cohort is due to commence in the coming days. 📈 The 42 startup companies to graduate from the center have demonstrated the solution of operational problems with technological means with high percentages of success. Most of them have continued to co-operate on R&D with DDR&D.
