Ukraine is not prevailing at the tactical level — if anything, Russia’s advantage at there is growing rather than diminishing, as Russia outpaces Ukraine in adapting to the evolving realities of the battlefield. The net result? Russia not only remains capable of sustaining the kind of defense-in-depth that has completely frustrated all Ukrainian offensive efforts, but is increasingly able to mount successful offensives in places like Avdiivka.

#PodcastAlert: Here’s a conversation worth listening to between Ben Rhodes and Save the Children US CEO Janti Soeripto. Janti joined Crooked Media’s #PodSaveTheWorld #podcast to talk about the continuing plight of Ukrainian children. As so much of the world heads #backtoschool, it’s important to recognize that for many children, the year is starting on shaky footing. #Conflict, #hunger and the #climatecrisis are severely impacting young peoples’ ability to access and reap the full benefits of #education. But #Ukraine is just one example…Children in #Palestine, #Yemen, #Syria, #Afghanistan, #Niger, etc. are losing out on critical opportunities for learning due to conflicts and unrest that they have done nothing to create. #educationinemergencies #crisisresponse #savethechildren #leadership #globaleducation #climatechange
I had a great conversation with Ben Rhodes and Crooked Media's Pod Save the World during my trip to Ukraine. We discussed the situation 18 months into the war, how Save the Children US is supporting children and families, and how communities are gearing up for the start of a new school year despite the conflict.
