#ITimplementation is usually a very complicated and difficult process prone to failure. However, there is a list of #GoodPractices that help reduce the risk of setbacks. Setting clear goals, carrying out #inception, failing fast and setting #MVPs are among them. Read the Sollers Insights article by Krzysztof Kołodziejczyk to find out more. 🧐

How regulated is your nervous system? We are typically working at a very high speed which can be dysregulating for our bodies. Here are some of my favorite practices to slow down and re-connect with a sense of safety in our bodies: https://lnkd.in/gPVscM5K

“Systems thinking is not so much directly translatable into specific counselling techniques, but rather provides a way of thinking about a system and a set of concepts” (Robinson, 1980: 184), that understands and helps with analysing complex systems and interconnected and interdependent entities. It involves consideration of relationships, interactions, patterns and meaning making within a system rather than focusing solely on individual components in isolation. Instead of viewing issues or events in isolation systems thinking emphasizes the interconnections, feedback loops, the dynamic nature of systems, and broader context and systemic influences that shape behaviour, outcomes, and relationships, and not just for family systems, for any social, ecological, organisational system or psychological system 🫶🏻

I just got to attend an excellent presentation from Woody Zuil on Software Teaming (formerly Mob Programming, see https://woodyzuill.com). The discussion circled back to Psychological Safety and how Teaming can't work if people don't feel safe pointing out problems. This article about Amy Edmonson's Research tells it best: https://lnkd.in/ev3cXcRk.

What is labelling and how it impacts.
Welcome to our video series on thinking errors, where we delve into the cognitive distortions that shape our perception of ourselves and the world around us. In this installment, we shine a spotlight on the potent influence of labelling – a common thinking error that involves oversimplified judgments of ourselves and others. Labels can be like invisible chains, constraining our self-perception and dictating how we interact with those around us. By assigning fixed, often negative descriptors to people or situations, we overlook their complexity and stifle opportunities for growth and understanding. #cbt #cognitivebehavioraltherapy #labeling #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentalhealthmatters #automaticthoughts #thinkingerrors https://lnkd.in/gPcA-DHV

Professional Services Firm Strategist | Pricing Consultant | Client Acquisition Guru | BidWizard | Coach | Problem Solver
This week's edition of Idea Surplus Disorder by Matthew Homann includes an absolutely amazing quote from Roger Martin that EVERY single law firm Managing Partner should have pinned on their wall: "Since strategy is the act of making distinctive choices that position your organization uniquely to win, by definition a choice the opposite of which is stupid on its face is not a strategy choice. For example, the opposite of the choice to be customer-centric is to ignore customers entirely, which is stupid on its face. Only a regulated monopoly — like the Department of Motor Vehicles — can ignore its customers entirely and survive. Similarly, either being operationally pathetic or disinvesting in talent is also stupid on its face. The only positive thing that can be said about those choices is that they aren’t stupid. And as such, you can be highly confident that all your consequential competitors will be making that same choice — i.e. to be customer-centric, operationally effective and to invest in their talent." You need to learn how to differentiate yourself; and as Roger Martin says, being "customer centric", "operationally effective" or "investing in your talent" is only differentiating yourself from firms going out of business. #lawfirmstrategy #lawfirmmarketing #law #legal #differentiation #bizdev #auslaw https://lnkd.in/gcXagabn

We are wired for inaction. I don’t recall where I read the research supporting this idea. But it makes sense when I am near tears trying to get my three children to school on time WITH SNOW GEAR & WATER BOTTLES. “Can you get your water bottle from the kitchen?” “Did you get your water bottle?” “Hey, go get your water bottle!” Afterwards, I called my therapist friend to ask if there is such a thing as auditory blindness. She laughed and told me the clinical phrase is being blind “non-preferred” tasks. Sometimes I feel like the skills I learn at work doesn’t transfer home. But if I can give a ted talk on how to get laywers do things they don’t want to do, then surely I can get a child bring their water bottle to school. (Don’t we do this every day?) If there is ONE thing I can take away from working in the legal profession — where there are so many “non-preferred” tasks — is that telling people what do leads to resistance. Reasoning is ineffective. And going on repeat creates resentment. What does work is to make it easy for people to do things they don’t want to do. At work, automate the process. At home, put the water bottles by the snack bin. Or launch them out the door when you reach the school 😆😆

https://lnkd.in/eXw-jCSt Today Frank and Stan chatted with Ros McMullen and Peter Cockcroft, two colleagues closely involved with Headrest, a support group for senior managers facing significant stress from undertaking their role in education. Headrest explain why they exist on their website 'Never before has the job of running a school been so challenging, not just for headteachers, but also for CEOs, governors and trustees. As a system-led profession, we need to come together and offer a much-needed mutual support service, acting almost as a safety device for headteachers. Most importantly, in order for it to be available and accessible to everyone, it needs to be free. This is where Headrest comes in. We know that in many schools, heads are very well supported, be it in a MAT, federation, cluster or LA. But there are too many out there who are not so lucky, new headteachers especially, who are not able to access the traditional suite of face-to-face induction support as a result of the lockdown restrictions. It must be especially tough for them, not knowing what 'normal' looks like. Add into the mix the safeguarding concerns thrown up by the pandemic, the regularly changing and often inappropriate guidance from the DfE, the misinformation and coordinated onslaught on the profession from certain quarters of the media, and the desperation to get things as good as they can be for the young people they serve, the job can feel un-doable.' The chat covers a wide range of issues relating to the recently published Headrest annual report. It explains how Headrest offers support and how speedily they try to respond. The discussion covers how things have changed since the previous report and identifies they key stressors that are impacting negatively on those seeking help and support. It is one of the most important Frank and Stan Chats of the year. Watch and listen to the situation experienced by senior leaders who make contact with Headrest. Sadly, things have not improved since the previous report, in fact, it appears to have got worse.
