The ERG Homegirl | Chief ERG Program Developer | Chaos Coordinator | Gen Z-er | People’s Champ | #TheERGMovement
#MythBustingMonday Quick callout on a practice that I see and hear promoted the irks me deeply: ❌ Cross Promotions ❌ There's an alarming misconception with the idea that every employee needs to know about every ERG event - which is far from the truth. "Our ERG is having an event - let's post it in every other ERG's communications channel to get more people." "Let's post in every open company channel that we can think of." I've said it before and I have a feeling that I'll continue to say it throughout 2024. New non-members coming to your events is not the solution to your low engagement problem. It's the fact that your current members aren't being delivered the value that they joined expecting. All cross promoting does is expose new people to the low impact programming that your ERG has and devalue to other channels that you choose to post in. It's selfish and a lazy way to say "I tried to promote the event." It's spam and spamming members with irrelevant content which actually HURTS engagement. What to do instead of generic cross promoting (aka spamming): 1️⃣ Segmented Internal to the ERG Program promotion. Instead of a "we'll take anybody just so our event attendance numbers increase" reach out to specific groups that the event is directly related to for targeted engagement (for example, the Women-identifying speaker that the Disability ERG is hosting would realistically be cross posted in the Women's ERG. If the speaker is also a Veteran, than cross promo would make sense in that ERG. But it wouldn't make sense to post in the Black ERG or API ERG if the speaker doesn't identify with that community. 2️⃣ Segmented External to the ERG Program promotion. Same as above, but think department, tenure, or goals etc. (For example, a speed networking event could be very meaningful for new employees since they often have a goal of branching out within their new company.) 3️⃣ MOST IMPORTANTLY - do better events. Focus on providing value and making events more engaging (making your CURRENT members WANT to join instead of asking other ERG's members to join). If you're doing another generic speaker or panel or coffee chat, it's not wonder people don't want to stop their day to attend. Rereading this post, it feels a tad bit harsh, but just know written with love. More on this at #TheERGEngagementTour so I hope to see you in person - be sure to bring your questions! Also, fun fact, The ERG Movement Podcast is back (actually, I have several episodes emerging from the never-released archives over the next few weeks) Today's episode is on cross promos - go figure :) https://lnkd.in/exQDeyw2 - The ERG Homegirl

It was such a pleasure being asked to share my "Founder Story". I didn't think my story was all that exciting but as I was attempting to write it, I started to remember all the things that brought me here, where I am today, and as cheesy as it sounds, it inspired ME first and foremost to keep going, I am on the right path, and by just focusing on the next right step and then the next right step in the same direction, progress happens. Not gonna pull a Snoop Dog (which btw I have mixed sound for in my Rockstar days), but I do want to thank me for believing in me 😅 People may say your goals are unrealistic, but only you know the reality. The most important conversations happen inside, and YOU ARE the person who can change everything. When doubt creeps in, try this: • Reflect on your past victories to boost confidence in present hurdles. • Push yourself more each day, even if it's just one extra step or minute. • Practice self-awareness; understanding your 'why' can be a powerful motivator. • In moments of despair, thank yourself for lessons learned on paths you have already taken. . Hope this inspires YOU too and reminds you of all the things that make you a bada$$. 💪 *************** Hi 👋 For those of you, new to my profile, here's the Cliffs notes version to demystifying me: verything I do, focus on, talk about on stages around the country, post about/push forward on social, is a personal commitment to Tree-Fan Events' #FIT4EVENTS framework that's structured around four core pillars: F = Futuristic AV Production I = Innovative AI Technology T = Thriving Audiences E = Empowered Teams Behind the Scenes The core values driving these pillars are experience, empathy, engagement, and an evolving mindset. And now you know. #founderstories #eventprofs #fit4events #meetingprofs #womeninevents #womeninbiz #womeninav #womenineventproductions

I help organisations and individuals to improve their leadership abilities and commercial opportunities via sports and entertainment. Co-founder and CEO of ESA. Golf. Cricket. Coach. Event Host. Brand ambassador.
"I joined the group and got nothing from it!" Have you ever said that? I hope not. But I have…and meet many saying the same thing. Why is that? Maybe they haven’t been advised on some best practice… To help new members that join a new group, sports club or team, membership organisation or Chamber of Commerce, we put together a podcast on how do you get the most of out of your membership? In our podcast session with Alan Rides MIEx (Grad) and Sally Smith from the West London Chambers we discussed some of these topics and more, including guests Robert D Emms and Nicky McKenna to share their success stories. Key takeaways: 1. You get out what you put in. The more you can give without expectation, the more benefits will come your way. 2. Create a goal. One great example given is Ash Sanjenbam MSyI who always asks for exactly the type of person he wishes to be introduced to. He doesn't ask for too many introductions. But he is very specific. It makes it easier to help. And he always supports the events and acts as a sponsor, so it is simple to help him in return. 3. Attend events. Choose wisely as you can not go to everything, but you are not going to be successful without getting involved. 4. Invite others along, either as a guest to an event or to join the group. 5. Know it takes time. You may be lucky and pick up a client at your first event, however, often it can be three or more events, or several months before you are successful in reaching your goal but keep at it. Finally, enjoy yourself and have fun. It will help you create a persona that attracts people to you. A big thank you to Steve Parker from London Media Lounge for creating the podcast and the use of his superb studio. We look forward to seeing the podcast and many more sessions there from Chamber members. #podcasts #tips #growth

Last year, I posted about being able to and wanting to help people podcast. I have run two podcasts; Can't Sell This which I produce and co-host with Stefan Grambart and Dismissed which I independently produce and host. I also helped Melanie Chambers get her podcast, The Sexy Times, up and running. If you've had a podcast idea and want some help, I can definitely help. Whether that's booking recording studio time, getting you set up with your own equipment, editing episodes or showing you how to have a website, RSS feed and uploading your episodes. Or all of it. Or just advice. Let me know! If we've spoken in the past about a topic you're interested in podcasting about, let's get it off the ground. Reasonable rates with a willingness to "work it out". I just love the idea of more people sharing their knowledge. https://lnkd.in/ghK-cf9J

"We are big advocates to make sure that the voices of our organisation have their personal brands out there because they have the direct links to the individuals that are going to persuade in one way or another to attend an event or share a piece of content..." Encouraging the people in your organisation to develop a personal brand on LinkedIn is not only beneficial for them, but can also help your organisation better position and market their events. It’s no secret that personal profiles are more trustworthy than corporate pages. People interact and engage more with personal profiles because… people trust people! In this week’s episode of The Events Cast Podcast, I spoke with Daniel Loman all about using LinkedIn to help promote events and I absolutely love how Dentons are championing their employees to develop personal profiles on LinkedIn. They don’t only encourage them to do this but also train them to better use Linkedin and recognise the people in the organisation who are more native to the platform and upgrade their profiles to creator mode. Are you encouraging and helping your people to develop a personal brand on Linkedin? Let us know in the comments! #theeventscast #eventspodcast #eventmarketing #eventprofs #linkedin #b3bevents
