Getting rejected by Amazon was a turning point in my career.😕
During my interview preparation, I covered all key topics and questions and made it to the final round, but ultimately got rejected. 😐
I realized I had focused too much on improving my technical skills and overlooked my communication skills. I worked on improving my communication skills and practiced with mock interviews. ✨
Eventually, I was able to secure a job at Google through hard work in the right direction. Now, I advise my followers struggling to crack interviews to take multiple mock interviews before applying to top tech companies. 💯
If you are struggling in your career, you can try platforms like Preplaced to connect with working professionals in top MAANG companies. They can provide personalized guidance to help you with your preparation.
Free trial with MAANG mentors - https://lnkd.in/dduQX3YG
The mentors on this platform offer doubt-solving sessions and mock interviews, help with resume building, and guide you until you get placed. So, make sure not to repeat the mistakes I made and test your preparation before applying for interviews.🚀
Hiring freezes and a large number of layoffs from the FAANG companies have made it extremely difficult for international students to survive in the US. 😢
❌ They face high living costs and almost no financial support from their native countries.
❌ Being away from family in such a challenging situation makes it even harder for them. 💔
❌ Many international students lack a strong professional network for support.
To succeed in this challenging job market, you need to be strategic in your job search. 🧠
Here are the 7 habits of an effective job seeker that can land you the much-needed job: 💼
1️⃣ Find and apply to different variations of your target position 🎯
2️⃣ Prepare a killer resume ✍️
3️⃣ Make your portfolio visible 🌐
4️⃣ Build a strong LinkedIn presence and establish your brand 🔗
5️⃣ Apply strategically and reach out to the companies you apply to 📧
6️⃣ Prepare for the most common interview questions 🗣️

“My resume is too long? But I have so much experiences to share!”
In this fast moving world, our attention span is now becoming shorter and everyone is working faster with more efficient methods.
Just like how we no longer watch long YouTube videos and often opt for shorter ones, the same goes to resumes for recruiter.
With the current standard, a resume should be maximum 2 pages long. This doesn’t mean that you can’t showcase all you experience, but you strategize in summarising your resume catering to the role you’re applying for.
These are 2 ways to make it concise and effective:
1. Highligh achievement with numerical form (eg. Led a team of 10 sales representation to achieve 5x growth in revenue in the first 3 years). Instead of claiming you are good sales manager, please focus on the results in numbers.
2. Only emphasize on your recent role that is applicable to the new job you’re applying for. For example, if you’re currently the Head of Sales in Malaysia, and you’re applying to be the Regional Head of Sales, you do not need to emphasize on your role as a Sales Representative 20 years ago. You can still include it, but it does not need further elaboration in your resume as it’s no longer relevant for your next role.
Remember, keep your resume short, concise and customised to the specific role you’re applying for.
Happy job applying!

Interviewer: “Why did you leave your last job?”
Untuk candidates yang dah ada experience kerja, ni adalah soalan common yang interviewer akan tanya time interview. So I nak share jawapan yang sesuai untuk jawab soalan ni. Korang boleh jawab macam kat bawah ni mengikut reason masing-masing.
1. The salary reason
"I have made the most of my job at [company] and I have successfully achieved the objectives I was set. Now I need a new challenge to expand my skills and to enjoy the rewards that come with more responsibility."
2. Organizational changes
"I have really valued my time at [company] and I'm proud of my accomplishments there, but we are going through structural changes and many of my projects have been canceled. In addition, the recent organizational changes have limited future advancement opportunities."
3. A Change of career direction
"I have re-evaluated my career goals and I am determined to find a position that better fits with my long term objectives and where I can contribute to the best of my ability. This job opportunity will allow me to develop my ___ skills while using my [position] experience to grow a satisfied client base."
4. For professional growth opportunity
"I feel I have reached the ceiling in my current job and I am eager for a fresh challenge. This job really appeals to me because I will be dealing directly with diverse clients and developing my customer-service skills."
5. Change of job description
I was hired for a specific position, but over time that has changed significantly and I no longer get the opportunity to use the skills that I was hired for or do the work that I am best equipped for. My abilities are a close match to the requirements of this job opportunity."
6. The company is struggling
"I have valued my time at [company], unfortunately the company is currently cutting costs and some members of my department were let go. I can't see any future prospects within the organization. So I think it's the right time to move on."
