An oldie but certainly a goodie! I came across this 2020 Nike ad again and couldn’t help but share, especially in the lead up to the #Olympics. Crazy. Aggressive. Bossy. Emotional. Women have been labeled for centuries but we’re flipping the script! Crazy ➡️ Courageous Aggressive ➡️ Assertive Bossy ➡️ Confident Emotional ➡️ Passionate Let’s show them what “crazy” can do! Here we go #Paris2024 💥
This still brings me to tears, what an ad.
It is crucial that advertisers like Nike be held accountable for the disconnect between their ad slogans and treatment of employees and the stars to whom the corporation has hitched its wagon. That said, I'm going to take a moment to celebrate the ideal and spread the message of empowerment to women everywhere.
I remember this commercial by Nike. I loved this then and still. Even more so now with all the political changes happening to women’s rights. So yeah, we need to get & be a little “crazy”. Let’s change the narrative. Be the subjects not the objects.
This is the world in which I want my daughter to thrive. ❤️
What's CRAZY is the chutzpah it took for Nike to make a commercial like this after telling Allyson Felix they were cutting her pay by 70% for getting pregnant and refused to pay other female athletes at all during their pregnancies. Come on ladies, we've got to open our eyes to the truth, this ad is nothing to celebrate. Read why here. https://time.com/6077124/allyson-felix-tokyo-olympics/
One of the greatest commercials ever. While working at adidas, I was proud to take part in “Impossible is nothing” campaign. But as a woman, I wish I had been a part of Nike team that created this campaign. Having been a former basketball player and embodying these traits, my colleagues call me “tiger” as a figurative expression of crazy. 🐅But why worry? My focus is on breaking through one glass ceiling at a time to become the best version of myself, competing against no one but myself. So if they label you as crazy, let them. Dare to dream big! Dream crazy!👊🏻
Incredibly moving commercial then and now. Raising a 9YO daughter and 6YO son, I am equally focused on making sure they both understand the power and ability women wield in this world. I want to empower my daughter and teach my son that he has a responsibility to make room for girls just like his sister at the proverbial table, on the field, etc.
