There is no such thing as an entrepreneur who has gone through nothing but sunshine and roses when it comes to their small business or startup journey - and why, you may ask? Well, in my opinion, it’s because the journey isn’t meant to be that way. I think we are all meant to learn as we go. What do you think? #Entrepreneurship #SmallBusiness #Startup

The Absurd Way Startup Founders Have to Measure Their Own Success Entrepreneurs are always stressed that they’re not making enough progress, but it’s because they’re measuring progress the wrong way. In my own 30-year entrepreneurial journey, I found the "fun" part of a startup (before all the pain :)) was when I was in what seemed like a multi-dimensional space where I could see the problem and solution for multiple intersecting opportunities. The creative force and energy that was released from within me in the first 6-9 months of the startup journey was like nothing else I've ever experienced. But then one day I'd wake up (just after I went to sleep :)) and look at my "to-do" list and see a bunch of things that I used to do in my corporate gig before I pulled the ripcord and parachuted out. According to Aaron Dinin, in his latest post (https://lnkd.in/gvme63_Z), in most professions, the better someone is at something — a sport, a skill, a hobby — the more time they’ll spend doing it. For example, the better someone is at basketball, the more likely that person is to be playing basketball professionally. But, in entrepreneurship, the opposite is closer to the truth: the better you are at being an entrepreneur, the less likely you are to be doing entrepreneurial things. He cautions entrepreneurs to keep this in mind whenever they have questions about their own entrepreneurial journey. The most objective way to evaluate your success is by examining the type of work you do on a given day. Absurd as it might seem, the less entrepreneurial and more managerial your work, the better you’re doing. Your ultimate goal as an entrepreneur should be to completely stop being an entrepreneur. So long as you’re making good progress toward that outcome, you’re on the right path toward entrepreneurial success. Sage advice, even if it seems counterintuitive at first. #startups #founders #entrepreneurship #management #progress #performancemeasurement
