This article came up in discussion today with our UX Team and I feel like there's a bit of "blaming the victim" going on here... 🤔 Most of the cases the author points out are misuses of placeholder text (e.g. using instead of labels or help text) or poor design choices, like the styling looking too similar to typed values. I would argue that designers abusing the component does not make the component itself harmful for usability. We've used placeholder text to inform users when e.g. a field offers typeahead functionality or will perform a search, and I think that's helpful for the UX rather than harmful. What are your thoughts? https://lnkd.in/dGKM5iMn

On UX Career Paths... 🤔 While researching the next step in my UX IC (individual contributor) career path I found this article about Intercom's job levels for product designers that happened to be written by my talented friend, Jonathon Colman! 😄 https://lnkd.in/dfqAxuVS I assumed the next IC step for me would be as a Principal Designer, but this article speaks of a Staff Designer, which I hadn't heard of before. I'm curious about others' experience with this path, is a Staff Designer considered an industry standard title now? #careerpath #jobtitles

The exciting conclusion to our Figma Support Saga: I finally got them to issue a new annual subscription invoice minus the unused Design and FigJam seats. 🙌 But I never want to go through that month-long arguing process again. 😅 Organization account administrators should be able to remove unused seats ourselves rather than contacting Support being our only option to properly manage seats during the 2-week review period before subscription renewal. I've submitted this idea and would greatly appreciate your vote: https://lnkd.in/dQchUjm6 Or you can submit this feedback yourself through the small question mark menu at the bottom-right corner of the Admin screen. Let's join together to improve our favorite design tool! 💪 #Figma #Community
