Hurricane season is upon us and it's one of the busiest times of year as far as preparation goes. Many of our customers are preparing by taking a look at their crawl space and ordering flood vents to help mitigate damages. 👉 You can check out our full inventory online, visit crawlspacedoors.com. Until then, here's some helpful information from NOAA’s National Weather Service: The first step of preparing for hurricanes is to know your risk. Find out today what types of water and wind hazards could happen where you live. Hurricanes are not just a coastal problem. Impacts from wind and water can be felt hundreds of miles inland, and significant impacts can occur regardless of the storm’s strength. Know if you live in an area prone to flooding, if you live in an evacuation zone, and identify any structural weaknesses in your home. https://lnkd.in/g-8te7w7

Hurricane Idalia struck north-western Florida as a category 3 storm, packing sustained winds of 110mph at landfall. The storm formed quickly over the Gulf of Mexico despite moderate wind shear and marginal mid-level moisture, owing to very warm sea surface temperatures of over 30C. While the system will gradually weaken, winds along the eastern coast of Georgia and South Carolina could be as high as 75mph, which may cause disruption to the major LNG terminal at Elba Island in Georgia over the next few days. #lngtrading #energytrading #hurricaneidalia https://lnkd.in/gUn5QAeS

Signs of what’s to come? Even with typical vertical wind shear values that would usually inhibit hurricane formation, Idalia went against the odds and rapidly intensified from a tropical storm to a category 4 (at maximum intensity). We typically view hurricane ingredients using a holistic approach. Will we see a future where the negative effect of vertical wind shear will be negligible as the oceans continue to warm? Concerning, nonetheless.
