In Innovation News Network, in light of Alan Turing's 70th anniversary this month, Dr. John Bates, CEO of SER, delves into why a reevaluation of one crucial aspect of Turing's enduring legacy is warranted—the renowned Turing Test. John also discusses why we are very close to having brilliant “diaries” that could function like super-smart friends to us. https://bit.ly/4aXfD2T #alanturing #turingtest #AI #contentservices #ECM

After attending the AI and robotics conference, I want to share some quick tips on how to start using AI effectively right away. 🚀 5 simple steps: Try out new products that are evolving rapidly. Don't be afraid to explore new innovations! Learn to ask clear questions to interact better with AI. It's the language of the future! Consider investing in paid AI tools; they usually work better than free ones. AI is already changing fields like marketing, sales, customer service, and programming. If you work in these areas and aren't using AI yet, it's time to catch up. Using AI regularly makes you much more efficient right now! 💡💼 #AI #technology #innovation If you haven't seen these memes yet, take a look. I believe it will be a common household item in the near future. Some experts even foresee this happening by 2035. https://lnkd.in/gDxwBUCi

When the world’s first public railway opened in 1825, many people were terrified. They thought that going at 30 miles per hour would either tear them apart or make them suffocate because they couldn’t handle such speed. Likewise, when computers were first invented, people were scared they’d be replaced by machine or being slave to it. In early age of modern AI, which we are currently experiencing, people were also scared of being replaced by this powerful technology. I'd say no, AI won't replace us, but people using AI will. Instead of just worrying, we should be more curious about these new things. Try to understand them and see if we can use them to our advantage in life. Because, at the end of the day, it’s only humans who have the power to make decisions, either to create or to destroy #artificialintelligence #machinelearning #social

To All AI enthusiasts, I recommend reading Erik Brynjolfsson's paper "The Turing Trap: The Promise & Peril of Human-Like Artificial Intelligence." This insightful piece delves into the implications of pursuing AI that emulates human intelligence, cautioning against the potential negative outcomes of fixating on human-like AI development. Brynjolfsson's warning on the "Turing Trap" sheds light on the economic and social risks of prioritizing human-like AI. Check out the paper at the following link: https://lnkd.in/dCCYhaTW Remember, AUTOMATE TASKS NOT JOBS.

Anyone remember the 1986 movie Short Circuit? Such a fun movie! I recently re-watched it after 35+ years and was struck by a scene where Johnny 5, the AI-powered robot, becomes sentient and is starving for more "input". It reminded me of the neural-network trained LLMs of today, which are also starving for more "input", more data and more compute. AI scientists and researchers have found that these LLMs only get more capable and smarter with more "input". It's fascinating to see how far AI technology has come since the release of Short Circuit. Have you re-watched any old movies lately and found new insights? Share your thoughts in the comments below. #AI #machinelearning #ShortCircuit #neuralnetworks

I’ve posted in the past about these multiple step deployments of AI technology, where one produces targets, and the other re-creates the target automatically in an automated lab. Yes, things go happily along increasing the size of the database of unknown materials and how to create them efficiently UNTIL it creates Ice-9 and finds a little water! It may seem hyperbolic to invoke Vonnegut at this point, but I think most of you will catch the drift. You don’t know what you don’t know until you know it. It is really all about the risk and how you mitigate it in advance! #ai #airegulation. https://lnkd.in/g7r8P3qi
