I, Tanvir Ahmed Rizbi, ventured on a path that led me from a background in tourism and hospitality to thriving in the diverse realm of Human Resources within the garment industry. The transition was relatively seamless due to my deep interest and thorough understanding of human research cultivated during my academic years. Starting as a Management Trainee Officer (MTO), I swiftly advanced to an executive role within a span of two years, with multiple commendations and significant salary increments. These career milestones not only affirmed my efforts but also fueled my dedication to contribute meaningfully to the organization. Working in a garment factory presented the challenge of managing a team with diverse educational backgrounds. I realized that effective communication, adaptability, and fostering an environment where each individual feels valued and contributes significantly are vital aspects. I found that clear and concise communication methods, an open-door policy, and tailored training programs were pivotal in nurturing a cohesive and collaborative team. One notable experience that significantly shaped my perspective was elucidating complex compliance procedures to a group of workers with limited formal education. This experience underscored the importance of adapting communication methods, using visual aids, and embracing empathy in leadership, ultimately earning trust and cooperation. Surprisingly, my background in tourism and hospitality management offered unexpected advantages in the HR field. Skills cultivated in customer service, understanding diverse cultures, and conflict resolution became valuable assets in managing a diverse workforce. Furthermore, the organizational skills and event management expertise honed in the hospitality sector laid a robust foundation for efficiently coordinating and managing various HR-related tasks. For aspiring professionals eyeing a career shift or progression in the HR domain, I advocate for a passion for service industries, an appetite for challenges, and a willingness to navigate uncertainties. The amalgamation of dedication, a zest for learning, and embracing the unknown has been the cornerstone of this transformative journey. Recently came across the HR policies of a successful chain of eateries . I had discussion with one of the brilliant,well educated and trained professional and that professional told me that HR policies of that organisation is far from being treated as balanced organisation in terms of HR policies . All successful hotels, restaurants and retail organisations associated with food business , must understand that sheer exploitation of well educated , professionally trained young professionals will make the hospitality industry HR positions worst and will lead to dissatisfaction of limited young professionals still coming to this field , inspite of present critical HR situation . Stop exploiting in name of industrial trainee , job trainee etc.etc. and start recognising , respecting the keen young talent and secure better and healthy HR environment in Indian hospitality sector .
