A 10-year plan is the kind of visionary approach this field needs.
Yesterday our regional sister chapters from Pennsylvania and New Jersey, along with the Delaware Valley Chapter, hosted national president and CEO, Joanne Pike, DrPH, and chief operating officer, Donna McCullough, who shared with staff and volunteers (both in person and online) insights into our organization's 10-year vision planning, and entertained questions and input. We are grateful to them and to everyone who participated in this vital discussion. Working together, today and every day, to #ENDALZ!

We honor the trailblazers who have left an indelible mark on our society through their leadership and commitment to improving lives, and as we celebrate Black History Month, i. Bernard J. Tyson, healthcare executive extraordinaire and former CEO of Kaiser Permanente, the first African-American to have this role, was one such visionary leader whose legacy continues to inspire us. Dr. Tyson, who sadly passed away much too soon, was a steadfast advocate for equitable healthcare, believing in the power of action when action has to happen no matter the obstacles. "Don't ask for permission to help improve the lives of the people in the communities you're pledged to serve, but instead march through the doors of red tape, make bold moves and usher in access." - Bernard J. Tyson Tyson's leadership was not just about managing one of the largest healthcare providers in the U.S.; it was about challenging the status quo, breaking down barriers to healthcare access, and ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background, had the opportunity to lead a healthy life. His approach to leadership—marked by boldness, compassion, and unwavering dedication to community service—serves as a beacon for all of us. In remembering Bernard J. Tyson during Black History Month, let's not only reflect on his contributions but also embody his ethos in our actions. Let us be inspired to make bold moves, challenge red tape, and tirelessly work to improve the lives of those in our communities. His legacy is a reminder that leadership is about much more than titles or accolades; it's about making a tangible difference in the lives of others. #Leadership #BlackHistoryMonth #BernardJTyson #Healthcare #Innovation #CommunityService

President, Forward Capital Mgmt., LLC.; Financial Advisor/Portfolio Mgr. Host of The Curators Podcast- for the Kennedy Curious (Views are my own). The #1 Linked-In voice supporting Robert F Kennedy Jr for President
Why is it so imperative that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. be elected our next president? It may be nothing less than a matter of survival. As I have been shouting from the rooftops for months, we are exchanging not just our health, but years of our lives, to keep the Medical Industrial Complex coffers churning out countless billions. They are no longer serving the public interest. They are the "other M.I.C." Eisenhower warned us about. They are in bed with the two parties. All of you in the anti-safe-vaccine contingent: you need to get in touch with your own complicity. Your intelligence has made you lazy and judgmental. You treat science as religion and you do not fulfill your duty. This is an outright crisis. We need to get to the bottom of it. Only RFK will. Only he has the skills. Even the head of Food and Drugs at the FDA refers to our health trends as 'catastrophic' (see below). How much longer do those defending these hoodlums wish to remain in denial? How much longer until Big Pharma and the agencies are forced to stop these corrupt practices? For the sake of humanity, we must elect Robert F. Kennedy Jr. But first we need to fight like hell just to get him on the ballot. The two-party monster is trying to subvert Democracy. We at People For Kennedy, a grassroots campaign, need all the help we can get. The obstacles are daunting, but we must find the Paul Revere in us. The will of the people. Fellow Americans, I believe this is our last chance. Dr. Pierre Kory- A true generational hero.

Congratulations and thank you to Tina Royal for agreeing to be featured in this month's Alumni Spotlight. Name: Tina Royal Position: Director, Black Butterfly Network What county do you live in? Davidson Leadership Class: REDI 2023 What has been the impact of REDI on your leadership journey since completing the training, personally and professionally? Encouragement and given me the security to work toward community collaborations and work to bring organizations together on projects to avoid duplication of programs and events. I filed to run for NC Senate District 30 and will be a candidate for the November 2024 elections. What recent accomplishments, projects, initiatives, or points of pride would you like to share? Our organization hosted the first Black History Month Art Invitational, a new artists exhibition. We had eight new artists showcase their art and speak with community attendees. Some of our artists had buyers purchase their first one-of-a-kind artwork. This was a wonderful event, and I am so proud of the outcome. What are the greatest assets in your rural community or region? Our value system assuring that citizens feel like they belong, supporting one another and working toward a better community. I believe those assets will help keep our community striving and thriving and working together to bring more folks together. What are the most significant economic development challenges facing your rural community or region today? Lack of affordable housing open to accepting subsidized housing vouchers and a lack of rental homes for Section 8 recipients. Our community needs more entrepreneurship/small business growth and programs. We need these programs to be visible and easy for interested people to find and learn more about. I also feel we are in need for more local economic development. What advice would you offer to current or emerging leaders in rural areas? Work to bring more collaboration in your rural and smaller communities. Try to pull organizations together to work smarter not harder to provide various opportunities for the community.

Chairman & President, The Neoliberal Corporation; Author, Neoliberalism, Globalization, Income Inequality Poverty And Resistance; Host/Producer of The Neoliberal Round Podcast; Doctoral Candidate, Georgetown University
Congrats brother. Now let's get the team to seriously get talent that wants to work there. I am no longer looking for a position at Public Health Management Corporation. But, after years of applying submitting over 100 applications there since 2017, The #HR team finally sent me an offer 2 weeks ago to work as a Youth Ally Worker. I am not sure how I was sent this offer but it came in my inbox. This position requires a High School diploma. I possess three Masters including an Advanced Masters and doing my doctorate, and is an Author and Academic. I have never applied there with less than a Masters so, how is it possible to get such an offer of all the apps? Talent sourcing needs to be beefed up. And by the way, just because someone has Rev at the beginning of their name should not disqualify them from working there. I understand that if you have a title such as Rev. or have theological education, that may disqualify an applicant as was the case in several situations, the hiring manager stated that they were not looking for people who were "holier than thou" as PHMC may require individuals performing duties that the religious may not want to do. I am not sure what they meant. However, I have never heard of that before within professional industries. I suspect that Michael K Pearson will make a difference as a brother who is forward thinking, inclusive and has a reputation for professionalism and understanding. #humanresources
PHMC’s Board of Directors has appointed Michael Pearson as President and CEO. Serving as Interim President and CEO since July & a board member for more than 10 years, Mike is deeply committed to PHMC’s mission of creating and sustaining healthier communities. More on this exciting announcement is available at the link below. Congratulations, Mike! #PublicHealth https://bit.ly/3GQZ9wi
