🌿 Sustainability Program South Tyrol for Destinations: The first area - Management 🌍 Dear LinkedIn Community, Today, I am delighted to introduce the first of the four major areas in the Sustainability Program South Tyrol for Destinations based on the GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council) criteria: Management. In my view, this area is key because without clear governance, i.e. who is steering the whole process, successful habitat management in a destination is not possible. A responsible individual is needed for sustainability management, where all threads come together. A sustainability team that reflects all facets of society in an area is equally crucial – representatives from local communities are indispensable here. Ideally, a medium- to long-term strategy for the area is developed, from which a concrete action plan can be derived (who does what by when?). It is essential to create continuous awareness among tourism related enterprises through all communication channels of the DMO (Destination Management Organization). The involvement of residents and guests is also very important. We rely on scientifically based and representative population and guest surveys to build our measures on real needs. Everything must be made transparent and the communication for a region must live up to its promise and not mislead with false facts. You can have a look how our destination Passeiertal/Val Passiria is doing this: https://lnkd.in/eXd4F2Vn Where necessary, we aim for hotspot management and actively engage with climate change. Participating destinations must develop a climate change adaptation plan. In order to complete this area of our sustainability program the DMO hast to fulfill 9 criteria with a total of 20 indicators. This is just one of four areas – a real challenge! Next time, I'll give you a glimpse into Socio-Economics. Stay tuned! 🤘 #Sustainability #SouthTyrol #Destinations #SustainabilityManagement #ClimateChange #Tourism #GSTC #Habitats #SustainableFuture #SustainabilityLabel #Südtirol Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC)

Creating a heritage village for eco-tourism development can be a fantastic initiative. Here are some steps and considerations: 1. **Location Selection:** Choose a location that is rich in natural beauty and has historical significance. It should ideally be in proximity to forests, rivers, or other eco-tourism attractions. 2. **Preservation of Heritage:** The village should have well-preserved historical buildings, traditional architecture, and cultural artifacts to showcase the heritage of the region. 3. **Sustainable Infrastructure:** Develop eco-friendly accommodations, such as traditional huts or cottages, using sustainable materials and energy sources. 4. **Cultural Activities:** Arrange cultural programs and activities that showcase the local traditions, including dance, music, and arts and crafts. 5. **Local Cuisine:** Offer traditional local cuisine prepared from organic, locally sourced ingredients. This can be a significant part of the cultural experience. 6. **Guided Tours:** Provide guided tours that introduce visitors to the local history, wildlife, and flora and fauna. 7. **Nature Trails:** Create nature trails and bird-watching opportunities to highlight the natural surroundings. 8. **Waste Management:** Implement effective waste management and recycling systems to maintain the ecological integrity of the area. 9. **Community Involvement:** Involve the local community in the project, providing them with employment opportunities and incentives to protect the environment. 10. **Marketing and Promotion:** Promote the heritage village through various channels, including online platforms, travel agencies, and participation in eco-tourism fairs. 11. **Regulatory Compliance:** Ensure all necessary permits and environmental regulations are met to maintain the ecological balance of the area. 12. **Feedback and Improvement:** Continuously gather feedback from tourists and the local community to improve the experience and sustainability of the heritage village. By following these steps, you can create a heritage village that not only attracts eco-tourists but also contributes to the preservation of the local culture and environment. #engage #enhance #evolve #ecotourism #villagetours #preserveourheritage #forcominggeneration

“Eco-Friendly: How Sustainability is Redefining Tourism and Hospitality”In recent years, there has been a significant growth in worldwide awareness and concern for environmental protection across generations. This heightened sensitivity has resulted in active participation and vociferous advocacy for environmental protection. As a response to these concerns, a variety of environmental efforts have evolved, including improved waste management, sustainable purchasing practices, and eco-friendly construction designs. Recognizing the importance of environmental sustainability, the hotel industry has implemented eco-friendly practices in its operations. This transition mirrors a broader cultural trend in which organizations from various sectors incorporate environmental responsibility into their basic principles and organizational cultures. Travelers, too, are increasingly valuing environmental friendliness when selecting lodging and vacation providers. Many travelers now seek out hotels and firms committed to sustainability. #HOTL752 #Ecofriendly #Hospitality #Sustainability Sara Harrel

Chateau Belet declares its year-round castle hotel operating performance already includes many ESG aspects, such as environmental effect, social responsibility, and ethical governance, ahead of the European push to adopt ESG and sustainability, climate targets for hotels, and chamber d'hotes. During the 24 months leading up to the grand opening in May, Château Belet, a 15th century renaissance castle short and long term stay hotel, implemented new highly efficient control systems, heating, cooling, water conservation, low and no VOC coatings, recycling, and product recovery with key energy, conservation, sustainability product suppliers, and climate product partners Schluter, Schneider-Electric, Graff, Point-P, Delzongle. These activities were enthusiastically sponsored by our local village Maire, Dordogne Prefecture, and Dordogne Tourism, Les Collectionneurs. Energy use, waste management and water usage, community participation, employee well-being, and governance practices are all part of this to reduce our environmental and social footprint by taking simple yet effective steps while welcoming guests to their magnificent place. Installing energy-efficient lighting, programmable thermostats, and waste-reduction techniques such as recycling and composting programs already make a significant difference. Renewable energy sources, such as deployed heat exchangers are just the beginning as we also consider government sponsored farm solar panel production of the location. These actions will be noticed and appreciated by guests without the need for a large marketing campaign when they walk on the stone underfloor heating this winter after a day of truffle or wild boar hunts. Offering locally produced and organic cuisine we bring forth some of our own tenant farmed vegetables, promoting and participating in cultural and hyper-local heritage experiences, and engaging visitors in eco-friendly activities in partnership with the local and prefecture initiatives improves the overall guest experience while benefiting the local community. Furthermore, establishing fair employment practices, providing training and development opportunities, and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment can all help to ensure social sustainability. We have now already in this first year assisted three new entrepreneurs to begin new tax paying businesses. Transparent and ethical governance methods are critical for the long-term viability of Belet, with clear policies and procedures, adherence to appropriate regulations, and open communication with stakeholders are all critical elements, encouraging responsible purchasing and supporting local suppliers and craftspeople. Château Belet brand is devoted to teaching the art of sacred connection – to family, friends, the land, this place, its people, and, perhaps most importantly, oneself. #travelindustry #travelandtourism #hospitality
